06/29/2020 INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT VIDAL Approved Was called back when the investigation was completed. The owner has left the site and was not able to have the property secured. Did call Arcaiden Industries to the site to have the house secured. The fire started in the living room and with heavy smoke to the kitchen area and some burning to the walls and ceiling in the dinning room area. All the other rooms have smoke damage and some of the windows are broken. The windows are casement windows. The drywall has been pulled down in the living room ceiling to check for fire in the rafters. Did have a section with some burning to the sheathing in the middle of the living room and some burning to the rafters. No vent holes cut on the roof. The electrical was removed at the meter and the gas was already pinned due to lack of payment. The water was left on. The tenant stated that she has not been staying in the house for a few days. The front door was burned completely and the metal security door has heat damage and has warpped. The exterior walls are Adobe and have no covering in the living room area. The Adobe did have heat to the Adobe walls in the living room area. The bedrooms, the bathrooms and the back room have no fire damage but did get smoke. Was not able to find smoke detectors. Will call the owner in the morning and do the posting on the front window. Will do the posting of Do Not Enter also on the front window. RV.
07/01/2020 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE VIDAL Approved The house is vacant and secured. Did talk to the owner of the property and will be meeting with the insurance company and the tenant on site tomorrow. The insurance will be looking at the damage and the cause of the fire. Did go over that the tenant can't just show up and go into the house without the owner knowing that the tenants are on site. The case will be closed due to the owner working with the insurance company and getting a contractor to make the needed repairs due to the fire. Violation Abated, Close Case. RV.
