02/25/2017 INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT GOODMAN Approved VISITED SITE, FIRST MET WITH TFD INVESTIGATORS AND TPD DETCTIVE DAVID HILL. DETECTIVE HILL WAS IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING CONTACT WITH THE OWNERS, INVESTIGATORS BROUGHT ME UP TO SPEED ON THE BUILDING. BUILDING WAS A HISTORIC COMMERCIAL BUILDING, THE CORBETT STRUCTURE ON THE S/E CORNER OF 6TH AV AND 7TH ST. FIREFIGHTERS WERE FIGHTING THE FIRE FROM THE ROOF, NOBODY WAS INSIDE THE BUILDING. JUST PRIOR TO MY ARRIVAL THE FIRE WENT 2 ALARM. ORIGINALLY THERE WAS ONLY ONE LADDER TRUCK FIGHTING THE FIRE FROM THE ROOF AND SHORTLY AFTER THERE WERE THREE LADDER TRUCKS TRYING TO PUT OUT THE FIRE, I WALKED THE BUILDING WITH DAVID HILL (TPD) AND TFD INVESTIGATORS WHO INFORMED ME THE ROOF WAS A DBL BOW TRUSS ROOF. I SAW THE SCUPPERS WERE DRAINING AT THE N/E AND S/E ENDS (REAR) OF THE BUILDING BUT NOTHING DRAINING IN THE FRONT. ASKED INVESTIGATORS IF THERE WAS A DBL ROOF AND SHOWED THEM THE SCUPPERS NOT DRAINING. I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS UP TO SEVEN FEET OF WATER AT THE NORTH AND WEST ENDS OF THE BUILDING, TFD WANTED NOBODY GOING INSIDE THE STRUCTURE BECAUSE OF THE WEIGHT PLACED UPON THE ROOF BY THE AMOUNT OF WATER. LATER FOUND THERE WAS A FLAT CEILING BUILT WITH 4 X 4 CEILING JOISTS BELOW THE BOW TRUSS ROOF. ROOF DAMAGE WAS EVIDENT. CHEIF GULOTTA STILL WANTED NO ONE INSIDE. I ASSUMED THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING AND MECHANICAL DUE TO PIPES, WIRING RUNNING RUNNING THRU THE SPACE BETWEEN ROOF AND CEILING, AND FROM AERIAL PICTURES TAKEN BY TFD COULD SEE A/C UNITS ON THE ROOF PROBABLY WATER DAMAGED. PICTURES SHOWED SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE TRUSSES. C/E CONTACTED JONATHAN MABRY WITH HISTORICAL ZONING, LEFT A MESSAGE, JONATHAN CAME OUT MUCH LATER AND MADE CONTACT WITH OWNER CHRIS HODGSON, AND TRADED INFORMATION. TFD CONTACTED RICHARD BYRD, WHO WOULD COME OUT MONDAY AND ALSO CONTACTED CATCLAW DEMOLITION WHO ALSO CAME OUT AND WALKED THE BUILDING JUST IN CASE THEY WOULD BE NEEDED. BUILDING WAS BOARDED PER OWNER CHRIS HODGSON DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF TRANSIENT ACTIVITY THEY HAVE HAD, AND THE STRUCTURE WAS ALSO FENCED BY BIFF BAKER PER REQUEST OF DETECTIVE DAVID HILL
08/28/2017 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE GOODMAN Approved VISITED SITE, WORK ON THE INTERIOR DEMO HAS BEGUN AND BEING COMPLETED UNDER PERMIT. FENCE IS TO BE REMOVED BY BIFF BAKER. C/E HAS NO JURISDICTION AT THIS POINT. COMPLIANCE / CLOSE CASE.
