05/30/2017 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE Approved VISITED SITE, FOUND STILL NO CHANGES. CONTACTED PART OWNER CHRIS HODGESONS WHO STATED THEY ARE STILL DEALING WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY, BUILDING WAS INSURED FOR 1.3 MILLLION, THE COST FOR JUST REMOVING THE FIRE DAMAGE SHE SAID WAS ALMOST DOUBLE THAT AND TO REPAIR THE BUILDING NEAR 4 MILLLION. THE BUILDING HAS BEEN TESTED FOR ASBESTOS AND RESULTS CAME BACK POSITIVE. ALSO STATED THEY HAVE CONTACTED INSURANCE EVERY WEEK FOR THE PAST 8 WEEKS, WITH NO POSITIVE INFORMATION. NEED THE FENCE TO REMAIN ON SITE.
03/27/2017 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE Approved VISITED SITE DUE TO DEMOLITION PERMIT HAVING BEEN SECURED. HAVE NOT SEEN ANY ONE WORKING INSIDE THE STRUCTURE, INCLUDING TODAY.
03/06/2017 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE Approved VISITED SITE, FOUND EQUIPMENT AND EMPLOYEES FOR RAIN FOR RENT ONSITE REMOVING WATER FROM THE BASEMENT. WATER WAS BEING PUMPED INTO A HOLDING TANK STATIONED AT THE REAR OF THE PROPERTY. DEBRIS IN THE BASEMENT WAS BEING PUSHED TO THE SIDES AND WALLS, TO BE PICKED UP LATER ONCE THE DEBRIS DRYED OUT.
SPOKE WITH ROB SIEGLER OF SERVPRO AND ASKED IF HE WOULD SEND ME LAB RESULTS OF THE WATER EXPECTED IN ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS. ROB STATED HE WOULD SEND RESULTS TO ELIZABETH LIEBOLT AS WELL.
02/28/2017 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE Approved Went to the site and to check the structure if any one allowed to take samples of the watet in the basement. The entrance to the basement was not near the fire area and was allowed to get the water samples. Made entry from the rear of the structure to get to the basement. Did look at the main structure to check if has other damage since the fire and appears to be the same. Did look at the burned area with the contractor who is working with the owner on supporting the girdder trusses to do the samples for the demo and to start the demo. Contractor to send E-mails to the Fire Chief, the EGSD person of enviromental issues and storm water. RV.
02/28/2017 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE Approved REVISITED SITE WITH INSECTOR RICHARD VIDAL TO INSPECT THE BASEMENT AREA AND TO HAVE RICHARD VERIFY MY ORIGINAL FINDING. A EMAIL WAS SENT TO JOE GULOTTA FOR ENTRY INTO THE BUILDING BUT REPLIED THEY NO LONGER HAVE CONTROL MET WITH ROB SIEGLER OF SERVPRO, AND MICHAEL WYCKOFF WHO WAS THERE TO ASSIST ROB. WE ENTERED THE BUILDING AT THE REAR, STAIRWELL WAS APPROX 16 FT FROM THE REAR DOOR, AREA WAS SAFE FROM ANY FALLING DEBRIS AND PRACTICALLY UNTOUCHED BY FIRE. ONCE IN THE BASEMENT WE FOUND ONLY 4 INCHES OF WATER. THERE WERE ITEMS STORED IN THE BASEMENT THAT ALSO SHOWED NO WATER DAMAGE ABOVE 4-6 INCHES. ROB EXPLAINED SERVPRO WAS A GENERAL CONTRACTOR AND WOULD ALSO BE CONDUCTING THE REMOVAL OF THE BURNED MATERIALS. I PROVIDED CONTACT INFORMATION OR RICHARD BYRD AND VERIFIED THE PROCESS FOR WATER TESTING. ROB ALSO CHECKED THE INTERIOR OF THE STRUCTURE AND BURNED PORTION TO DETERMINE HOW TO MOVE FORWARD. AFTER ASSESSING THE AREA IT WAS CLEAR THAT CERTAIN BEAMS WOULD REQUIRE SHORING AND THE ENTIRE ROOF WOULD NOT REQUIRE DEMO BUT ONLY REMOVEAL OF BURNED PORTIONS AND THEN REBUILD. ROB STATED HE WOULD CONTACT RICHARD BYRD TO DETERMINE HOW TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THE ASBESTOS PORTION.
02/27/2017 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE Approved REVISITED SITE AFTER RECIVING A CALL FROM CLAYTON THAT WALLS MAY BE FAILING. I REINSPECT ALL EXTERIOR WALLS, AND WHAT I FOUND THAT THE WALLS REMAINED THE SAME, CRACKS N THE WALLS WERE THE SAME AS SATURDAY BEFORE I LEFT. NOW THE WALLS ARE DRYING OUT AND THE CRACKING HAS BECOME MORE PROMINANT BECAUSE OF THE WATER GETTING BEHIND THE PAINT AND NOW YOU HAVE MORE PEELING PAINT THRU OUT THE STRUCTURE AND AROUND THE EXISTING CRACKS. WATER SEEPING FROM THE STRUCTURE WAS MINIMAL TODAY AS APPOSED TO 4 TO 6 INCHES OF WATER INSIDE TRYING TO FIND ITS WAY OUT ON SATURDAY. I DID CALL CLAYTON WITH MY FINDINGS, CLAYTON STATED HE HAD MADE CONTACT WITH THE OWNER AND SHE DID SEEM WILLING TO HAVE THE BASEMENT PUMPED.
