11/03/2014 | INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT | GOODMAN | Approved | VISITED SITE, MET WITH TFD WHO MENTIONED THEY DID NOT SEE THE BREAK BUT BELIEVE A WATER LINE BURST INSIDE THE CEILING DUE TO WATER DUMPING OUT OF THE CEILING AREA AFFECTING 5 DIFFERENT OFFICES. TFD TURNED SPRINKLER SYSTEM OFF AND ISOLATED POWER SO THAT THE WEST SIDE OF THE STRUCTURE STILL HAD POWER AND EAST SIDE WHERE THE LEAK OCCURRED HAD BEEN TURNED OFF. ** MET WITH MANNY MUNGUIA MAINTANENCE SUPERVISOR WHO STATED AFTER MEETING WITH FIRE, HAD CONTACTED PINNACLE WATER RESTORATION AND KAZAL FIRE SAFETY. BOTH COMPANIES ARRIVED WHILE ON SITE. MAX REPIN FROM PINNACLE STATED HE HAD PEOPLE IN ROUTE, MAY BE 30-45 MNUTES BUT UPON ARRIVAL WOULD HAVE THEM REMOVE FURNITURE FROM ALL 5 OFFICES, AND BEGIN EXTRACTING WATER FROM THE WALLS AND FLOORS. MAX CHECKED THE WATER CONTENT IN THE WALLS AND DID NOT FEEL THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REMOVE ANY DRYWALL. THEY WOULD REMOVE THE BASEBOARD AND EXTRACT WATER. **KAZAL FIRE PROTECTION STATED THEY WOULD WAIT UNTIL THE OFFICE FURNITURE WAS MOVED AND WATER EXTRACTED BEFORE THEY BEGIN WORK. KAZAL WILL RESTORE FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM. ** MANNY STATED HE TOOK CARE OF ALL ELECTRICAL ISSUES FOR THE COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE AND WOULD REMOVE A COUPLE OF OUTLETS AND A SWITCH FROM EACH OFFICE TO DETERMINE IF WATER ENTERED ANY OF THE ELECTRICAL BUT WOULD MAKE SURE ALL ELECTRICAL WAS RESTORED BEFORE RESTORING POWER. ** CONTACTED MARTIN ROMERO INFORMED HIM POWER AND SRINKLER, HAD BEEN ADDRESSED AND WILL BE RESTORED BY APPROPRIATE COMPANIES, WATER WAS BEING EXTRACTED AND THAT ALL ISSUES HAD BEEN ADDRESSED AND WORK WAS IN PROGRESS. ASKED IF A NOV WOULD BE REQUIRED DUE TO ALL WORK WAS IN PROGRESS AT THE TIME OF MY ARRIVAL. MARTIN AGREED THAT A NOV WOULD NOT BE REQUIRED, I ALSO TOLD MARTIN I WOULD REINSPECT ONCE THE CEILING WAS OPENED BY KAZAL FIRE. |
11/03/2014 | INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE | GOODMAN | Approved | REVISITED SITE, FOUND PINNCLE RESTORATION ONSITE, BASEBOARD IN THE OFFICES HAD BEEN REMOVED, FURNITURE REMOVED, AND FANS PLACED IN THE OFFICES. THREE OF THE FIVE OFFICES WERE NEARLY DRY. RECEPTACLE COVERS HAD BEEN REMOVED AND OUTLETS APPEARED DRY. KAZAL FIRE HAD ALREADY CUT THE CEILING AND REMOVED A SMALL SECTION OF PIPE AND A SPRINKLER HEAD FITTING WHICH WAS THE ACTUAL PROBLEM AND CAUSE FOR THE CALL. THE CEILING APPEARED TO BE 2X6 ROUGH SAWN LUMBER RIPPED IN HALF AND NAILED TOGETHER TO CREATE THE CEILING, THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM WAS PROBABLY THEN INSTALLED AND THE ROOF SHEATHING THEN PLACED LAST. THERE WAS A 6-8 INCH SPACE BETWEEN THE CEILING AND RAFTERS. KAZAL FIRE RESTORATION CALLED COMMUNICATIONS WHILE ON SITE AND INFORMED THEM THAT FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM WOULD BE RESTORED IN 1 HR AND THAT OFFICE PERSONAL WOULD CALL BACK AND CONFIRM. REPAIRS WERE WELL ORGANIZED AND OFFICE PERSONEL FOR CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES ASKED IF POWER COULD BE RESTORED AND AND THE OFFICE REOPENED FOR 11/04/2014. I ASKED THEY RESTORE POWER IN THE MORNING, STAY OUT OF OFFICES THAT WERE FLOODED AND MOVE FURNITURE OUT OF THE HALLWAYS. ASKED MANNY TO REPLACE THE OUTLET COVERS AND THEN THEY COLD REOPEN THE OFFICE. AGAIN NOV WAS NOT ISSUED, RESTORATION WORK HAS GONE SMOOTHLY, ALL SUB CONTRACTORS WOKING TOGETHER. DNR HAS NO FURTHER ISSUES. COMPLIANCE / CLOSE CASE. |
