09/20/2010 INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT RVIDAL Approved P. NAVALLEZ CALLED AND HAD A FIRE CALL PER C. PORTILLO. RESPONED AND HAD A RESTURANT FIRE IN THE HOOD SYSTEM OVER A STOVE. THE FIRE STAYED IN THE DUCTWORK GOING TO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM ON THE ROOF. THE DUCTWORK WAS ON THE EXTERIOR OF A MASONRY WALL AND GOING TO THE ROOF TO THE EXHAUST FAN. THERE WAS SOME DRYWALL DAMAGE WHERE CHECKING FOR FIRE IN THE SOFFIT OVER THE STOVE. THE MAIN STUCTURE IS OK WITH ONLY DAMAGE TO THE DRYWALL. THE ELECTRICAL WAS TURNED OFF AT THE DISCONNECTS TO THE RESTURANT ONLY. THE OTHER DISCONNECTS WERE TURNED BACK ON BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. I MET WITH THE MANAGER OF THE RESTURANT AND LET HER KNOW THAT THE BUISINESS WILL CLOSED UNTIL THE HOOD SYSTEM HAS BEEN REPLACED, THE ELECTRICAL REPAIRED AND A C OF O HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR THE NEW OWNERS OF THE RESTURANT. PLACED CITY LOCKS ON THE DISCONNECT DUE TO THE ELECTRICIAN WILL NO BE TO THE SITE TILL AFTER 3:00 PM. SHOWED THE MAINTENANCE MAN WHAT THE CONCERNS OF THE RISER GOING TO THE ROOF WHERE THE EXHAUST FAN IS LOCATED AT THE PARAPET WALL. DID CALL THE ELECTRICIAN AND HE WILL CALL TO HAVE THE LOCKS REMOVE FOR TESTING OF THE ELECTRICAL REPAIRS. GAVE MY PHONE NUMBERS TO CALL ME IF ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED. BUILDING WILL BE LOCKED AFTER THE OWNER OF THE RESTURANT REMOVES THE FOOD ITEMS OUT OF THE BUILDING. THE MANAGER WILL SECURE THE BUILDING. WILL CHECK IN 30 DAYS. RV.
