| 04/16/2009 | INSP - FULL | NSPRENGE | Violation | INSPECTION: The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a fire safety inspection of your business. Below are some violations of the Tucson Fire Code ( 2006 International Fire Code with modifications) that shall be corrected in order to come into compliance. ___1.PROBLEM: Found multiplug adapter on outlet in kitchen. IFC 605.4 Multiplug adapters. Multiplug adapters, such as cube adapters, unfused plug strips or any other device not complying with the ICC Electrical Code shall be prohibited. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Remove unapproved adapter from business. ___2.PROBLEM: Found extension cord running over kitchen door and hanging down over microwave. IFC 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Remove extension cord from use in business. ___3.PROBLEM: Emergency lights in kitchen not working properly. IFC 1006.1 Illumination required. The means of egress, including the exit discharge, shall be illuminated at all times the building space served by the means of egress is occupied. REQUIRED CORRECTION:You will cause your emergency lighting to operate properly. ___4.PROBLEM: Your hood has not been cleaned through ventwork up to roof since 8/07 according to tag on the hood. There is a build up of grease on your filters. IFC 904.11.6.3 Cleaning. Hoods, grease-removal devices, fans, ducts and other appurtenances shall be cleaned at intervals necessary to prevent the accumulation of grease. Cleanings shall be recorded, and records shall state the extent, time and date of cleaning. Such records shall be maintained on the premises. REQUIRED CORRECTION: You will have your hood system cleaned from filter-through vents- up to roof and provide the inspector with a receipt of cleaning. ___5. Your fire extinguishers were last inspected in January of 08 and are overdue for inspection. IFC 901.6.1 Inspection/testing/maintenance. Fire extinguishers shall be inspected yearly in accordance with NFPA 10. REQUIRED CORRECTION: You will have your fire extinguishers serivced by a qualified professional. ___6. PROBLEM: Your kitchen storage of stocked items is blocking the width of your exit door. Problem: IFC 1008.1.1.1 Projections into clear width. There shall not be projections into the required clear width lower than 34 inches (864 mm) above the floor or ground. Projections into the clear opening width between 34 inches (864 mm) and 80 inches (2032 mm) above the floor or ground shall not exceed 4 inches (102 mm). REQUIRED CORRECTION: You will move your overstock items to maintain the clear width of your kitchen exit door as indicated above. ___7.PROBLEM: Your kitchen aisles are reduced to less than 28 inches by boxes of stock items. IFC 1014.4.1 Aisles. Nonpublic aisles serving less than 50 people must be no less than 28 inches wide at all times. REQUIRED CORRECTION: You will maintain 28 inches in your non public kitchen aisles at all times. ___8. PROBLEM: Your key locking cylinder on the rear kitchen exit is not permitted, there is more than one operation to unlatch door, and it is situated above the 48 inch maximum height limit. 1008.1.8.5 Unlatching. The unlatching of any door or leaf shall not require more than one operation. 1008.1.8.2 Hardware height. Door handles, pulls, latches, locks and other operating devices shall be installed 34 inches (864 mm) minimum and 48 inches (1219 mm) maximum above the finished floor. 1008.1.8 Door operations. Except as specifically permitted by this section egress doors shall be readily openable from the egress side without the use of a key or special knowledge or effort. REQUIRED CORRECTION: You will remove your key locking cylinder on your rear kitchen exit. You are due for a 6 month hood inspection in May. There is no violation; this is just a reminder to have that completed in May so you will remain in compliance.
