06/16/2008 INSP - LIFE SAFETY RSPANGLE Approved AFTER MODIFICATIONS TO THE VENTILATION/EXHAUST SYSTEM IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE MECHANICAL ENGINEER'S SUGGESTIONS AND BEING ACCEPTABLE TO THE MECHANICAL INSPECTOR READINGS WERE TAKEN THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING FOR CO. THROUGHOUT THE CUSTOMER LOBBY AND BACK ROOM CO READINGS WERE BELOW 5 PPM. AROUND THE KETTLE EXHAUST HOOD READINGS WERE 10-12 PPM. UNDER THE HOOD READINGS SPIKED AT 25 PPM UNTIL THE WATER REACHED ITS MAX. TEMP., WITH THE HEATING UNIT CYCLING ON AND OFF TO MAINTAIN THE TEMP. THE READINGS VARIED FROM 2 PPM TO 24 PPM. NIOSH MANUAL SPECS. SHOW THE TWA FOR CO AS 35 PPM AND OSHA TWA IS 50 PPM. THESE READINGS ARE WILL WITHIN PERMISSABLE LEVELS. THE OVEN AND KETTLE ARE SAFE FOR NORMAL OPERATIONS. THE RED TAGS WERE REMOVED BY ME.
06/16/2008 INSP - LIFE SAFETY RSPANGLE Approved BRUEGGER'S HIRED A PRIVATE COMPANY TO DO REPAIRS AND CHANGES TO THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. THE KETTLE WAS STILL PRODUCING HIGH LEVELS OF CO. THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER OF THE HEATING UNIT WAS FOUND TO BE CORRODED AND PLUGGING SOME OF THE ORAFICES FOR INTRODUCING AIR INTO TO FLAME CAUSING A HIGH PRODUCTION OF CO.
