10/06/2006 VIOL - MEANS OF EGRESS JDAVIS Correction Required 1008.1.8.4 Bolt locks. Manually operated flush bolts or surface bolts are not permitted. 1008.1.8 Door operations. Except as specifically permitted by this section egress doors shall be readily openable from the egress side without the use of a key or special knowledge or effort. This buliding is not occupied at the time and there was a lock put on the outside of the rear door to prevent entry. Someone also had installed a slide-bolt on the inside of the door at some point which is also a fire code violation. I spoke to the owner of the building and gave him until Wednesday October 11, 2006 to abate both issues the issue. I also spoke to the complainant who appearantly was the previous occupant and advised him of my findings.
