06/07/2024 | COT - ENFC - Code Enforcement - Follow Up | In Violation | NOTES PG 2/2: At Unit 155, vacant and secured unit, did observe similar situations to include collapsed ceiling tiles and water pooled on the floor. TEP arrived on site and determined that power to the building was controlled by three transformers but unaware which transformers served which parts of the building. At approximately 8:30 PM power was cut to the entire building and residents began to evacuate the site. At approximately 9:00 PM a large portion of the drywall ceiling to the west of the parking garage entrance collapsed onto the ground and sidewalk below. The area was caution taped off by TFD. Unit 1401 sustained extensive damage. Large portions of drywall ceiling collapsed. Electric wiring in the attic and in the walls, electric outlets and switches, and the electrical panel were covered in water. There was water pooled at the bottom of the electrical panel. Unit 1301 sustained similar water damage to ceiling, a light fixture had fallen down from the ceiling leaving electrical wires exposed. The electrical panel had water inside and pooled at the bottom of the panel. Inspector Tidwell arrived on scene at approximately 9:50 PM. Agave Building Management called an electrician to the scene who reviewed electrical in the building and recommended power be left off at Units 1401, 1301, 135, 145, and 155. At approximately 2:00 AM power was restored to all other units. Commercial units 135, 145 and 155 were secured by business operators. Agave management signed Notice and Order to secure residential units 1401 and 1301. Units 1401, 1301, 135, 145 and 155 were condemned and marked with Red Tags as Unsafe to Occupy, power left off at meter by TEP with Permit required for reconnect. Permits are required for all repairs to all units and all work is to be completed by licensed contractors, to include replacement of electrical wiring and fixtures that came in contact with water. -VM | |
06/07/2024 | COT - ENFC - Code Enforcement - Initial | In Violation | NOTES PG 1/2: Received a call from dispatch for a fire at the Agave 350 Apartment Complex while on scene for another call. Responded to site and arrived at approximately 7:44 PM. Was informed by TFD command that the situation at hand was a fire sprinkler main line burst in Unit 1401 that proceeded to flood that unit and large portions of the building. The unit was a rented unit but the tenant was not in the unit so it flooded the building for an unknown amount of time, to be estimated between 1 and 2 hours, before being turned off. Upon arrival, found water was pouring out of the ceiling near the parking garage entrance and the ground level retail spaces. Requested TEP be dispatched to site. Entered Unit 101, occupied by Hi-Fi Bar. There was no water draining from the ceiling, but could hear water dripping onto drywall in the host stand/entrance area of the space. Observed the attic space above this area and could not determine if or where water was pooling. Did observe electrical conduit and fixtures as well as HVAC equipment in this area. The retail units, 135, 145 and 155 all had water pouring out of the ceiling. At Unit 135, occupied by Urban Pita, found employees had turned lights off to the front of the space and were attempting to soak up water. Ceiling tiles were collapsed onto the floor due to being saturated with water. There was water pouring out of the ceiling still, coming out of light fixtures and electrical equipment, as well as water pouring out of HVAC vents. Water was also pooled on the floor of the kitchen area. At Unit 145, occupied by Insomnia Cookies, found employees on site and all lights on in the building. Ceiling tiles were collapsed onto the floor due to being saturated with water. Water was actively pouring out of the ceiling, on and around light fixtures. Ordered lights in this area turned off at that moment. CONTINUED... |
