TC-RES-0325-01589 Withdrawn 03/26/2025 N/A Residential Building - One or Two Family This project includes maintenance painting of the Fox Tucson Theatre and Arizona Daily Star Buildings. The stagehouse of the historic Fox Theatre was severely tagged in multiple locations in February of 2025. Additionally, both the historic Fox Theatre and the Arizona Daily Star Building, which serves as the Theatre’s administrative offices, are in need of repainting due to weathering, fading, and areas of cracking, chipping, and peeling. The buildings were last painted twenty years ago when they were renovated in 2005. The Fox has retained the same paint contractor who painted the buildings in 2005. Colors are being matched to existing on all surfaces. Existing colors were approved when the renovation took place in 2005. The full buildings will be repainted, including facades and up the full height of the stagehouse. In addition to repainting, the project will also replace the fabric awning that hangs on the front of the Fox Theatre, over the box office on the left side of the Congress façade. This fabric is significantly sun-faded and frayed and torn in many places, requiring replacement. While an exact fabric match is not possible, we have selected similar color and striped pattern to match as closely as possible to the existing fabric. This work does not constitute an alteration of any kind, but is necessary as a matter of basic maintenance and stewardship of our historic buildings.
