STRUCTURAL REVIEW COMMENTS:
Conditionally Approved
Approved with the following conditions:
1. Revised footing size needs to be incorporated in the foundation plan and footings to be built to the revised size.
2. Geotech engineer's input regarding ground water loads wasn't provided with the response as is indicated in the structural response letter. From the calculations it is clear that ground water pressure is not a design issue for this project, please ensure that a response from the geotech engineer regarding ground water pressures being a non-issue is obtained and on the file before work is allowed to commence.

1. duct that penetrates more than 2 stories shall be protected with a shaft enclosure sheet M1.0 (IMC2018,607.6.1) Not Complied this is a mechanical code requirement not a IBC code section requirement, it shall not be chase wall, it is required to be protected by a shaft according to the mechanical code. And this is considered a duct not a vent pipe, so it is required to be in a shaft and furthermore you will need to penetrate the shaft according to section 607.5.5 exception 2 of the IMC 2018 for r-2 occupancy. Not Complied in B or R occupancy if you don't use a fire and smoke damper, then you are required to use a sub duct and a continues exhaust at the upper terminus of the shaft and it must be backed up by a generator according to the cited section
3. All range exhaust duct's in all apartment unit's shall be in a shaft where duct penetrates fire rated floor/roof ceiling assembly sheet M1.0 (IMC2018,607.6.2) Not Complied same as correction #1 Not Complied same as #1
7. Indicate where the trash discharge room is, your only indicating trash rooms, the trash discharge room must be a 1 hour rated room that the trash discharges in sheet M1.0 (IMC2018,106.3.1) & (IBC2018,713.13.4). Not Complied. Provide a fire damper where the exhaust duct penetrates the trash discharge room on the 1st floor sheet M1.0 according to IBC2018, section 713.13.4,and provide ceiling radiation dampers where the exhaust duct penetrates the chute access rooms at the ceiling fire rated assembly per IMC2018,607.6.2 on sheet M1.1 you must provide the ceiling radiation damper at the ceiling penetration of trash chute access rooms, you provided a fire and smoke damper at the wall penetration. but i will accept the fire and smoke damper at the trash discharge room Not Complied Correction #7 is now Complied
11. Provide a separate duct for the outdoor air coming out of the shaft on each floor, instead of the main 12 by 10 that feeds the corridor and apartment units, and protect with a fire and smoke damper or else you will have to provide a smoke damper at each corridor penetration (MMC2018,607.5.4) The corridor must have a supply and a return or exhaust under section 403.1 of the IMC, so just like you did with the supply duct coming out of the shaft feeding just corridor, you must do the same with the exhaust or else the corridor becomes a supply duct, which is prohibited under section 601.2 of the IMC Not Complied
