03/10/2022 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. The provided specifications for the plumbing fixtures are inadequate for evaluation of some of the fixtures (e.g. the lab sink with emergency eyewash and the emergency shower). Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2018. [Initial comment: Provide specifications for the new plumbing fixtures. Reference: Sections 303.4 and 402, IPC 2018.] 2. A ¾" supply line for the emergency shower is not sufficient. The Haws model 8100 emergency shower, for example, requires a minimum 1-1/4" supply line and 30-90 PSI flowing water pressure for proper operation (see https://www.hawsco.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/8100.pdf). Provide the specification for the emergency shower upon which you are basing your design and show that the installation will comply with the manufacturer's instructions. [Initial comment: Clarify the installation of the emergency shower. The showers typically flow 20 to 40 GPM and a ½" water supply will be inadequate. Reference: Section 303.2, IPC 2018.] |
