A complete plan set showing 2018 IRC compliance is required for a permit.

If the DDO is approved the structure must also comply with the 2018 IRC building code. 1. The roof may not be closer than 2 feet to the property line. 2. The part of roof within 3 feet to the property line requires one-hour fire rated material on the roof underside.

Fire rated constructiion may be avoided when all parts of the structure is 3 or more feet from the property line. A porch roof may be placed inside of the 3 foot fire separation distance to property line if a one-hour rated wall is extended from ground to roof and from end to end.
