1. It appears that there are card readers on the egress side at many of the doors providing
egress from the main building and the guard houses. Per 2018 IBC Sec. 1019.1.9 egress
doors shall be readily openable from the egress side without the use of a key or special
knowledge or effort. Within Sec. 1019.1.9 there are some methods of having controlled
egress doors, however none of them are applicable to Group S-1 Occupancies. Sensor

released locks and electromagnetically locked egress doors are allowed for Group B
Occupancies per Sec. 1010.1.9.8 and 1010.1.9.9 respectively. Please correct.
2. There is a pole foundation detail on Sheet A-407 (i.e. Detail 7), two such details on Sheet
Sd2.1 (i.e. Details 12 and 13), and two additional details on Sheet E-102; please
coordinate. Structural calculations have been provided for the details on Sheet SD2.1; the
other details are structurally unverified by calculation.
Sheet A-000
3. Please indicate on this sheet that the automatic fire sprinkler system and fire alarm system
are to be provided as part of this project (as required by 2018 IBC Sec. 903 and 907
respectively) and are to be submitted as a separate permit (not a deferred submittal).
4. The plans indicate that premanufactured steel trusses will be provided as part of a
deferred submittal. Either provide the documents now or list on this sheet as a deferred
submittal and include the following notes:
PER IBC Section 107.3.4
<Name of Registrant>, the registered design professional in charge shall be responsible for reviewing and
coordinating submittal documents prepared by others, including phased and deferred submittal items, for
compatibility with the design of the building.
PER IBC Section 107.3.4.1
Submittal documents for deferred submittal items shall be submitted to the registered design professional in
responsible charge, who shall review them and forward them to the Building Official with a notation indicating
that the deferred submittal documents have been reviewed and that they have been found to be in general
conformance with the design of the building.
5. Note on the cover of the drawings that special inspection is required for earthwork,
concrete, epoxy and expansion anchors, structural steel, cold-formed steel framing, highstrength bolts, field welding, masonry, and possibly outdoor lighting.. Also, provide City of
Tucson special inspection certificate(s) with Parts A and B completed. Make sure that
the owner or their legal representative signs the form.
6. The code analysis does not discuss the allowable area of the building per 2018 IBC 506;
please clarify on the plans how this building meets the requirements for allowable area.
{Suspect that you are attempting to meet 2018 IBC Sec. 507.4 for unlimited area
buildings; however, you will need to meet the provisions of Sec. 507.4.1 for the Group A
Occupancies.}
Sheet AG-101
1. The 2018 IBC references the ICC/ANSI A117.1 – 2009 Edition; all the refences on this
sheet incorrectly reference the 2017 Edition. Please correct.

Sheet GH-108
1. Detail C shows the overflow being part of the scupper head. Per 2018 IPC Sec. 1108.1
overflow scuppers shall be a separate penetration (i.e. inlet and outlet for each drain shall
be independent) through the parapet.
Sheets A-110 and A130A
1. Men’s Rooms 118 and 119 are a combined single multiuser toilet room containing 4 toilets
and 2 urinals. Per 2018 IBC Sec. 1109.2.2, since there are a combined total of six or
more water closets and urinals, one of the toilets must be in an ambulatory compartment
meeting the requirements of ICC/ANSI A117.1-2009 Sec. 604.10. Women’s Rooms 120
and 121 have the same issue and will also require an ambulatory compartment.
Sheet A-131
1. Utility Room 406 contains two 3,000-amp switchboards. Per 2018 IBC Sec. 1010.1.10,
electrical rooms with equipment rated 1,200 amperes or more and over 6 feet wide, and
that contain overcurrent devices, switching devices, or control devices with exit or exit
access doors shall be equipped with panic hardware. Interior Door 406 is noted in the
door schedule on Sheet A-406 as having Hardware Set TI-20 which includes panic
hardware, however Exterior Door S023 is noted in the door schedule on Sheet A-405 as
having Hardware Set 7B, which does not include panic hardware. Please coordinate.
Sheet GH-102
1. The Guard House Door Schedule contains “text over text” making a portion of the
schedule illegible.
