10/29/2020 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1. Demonstrate energy code compliance for the building using calculations based on the International Energy Conservation Code 2018. Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the building envelope. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation. Reference: Section C103.2, IECC 2018.
2. Show how one of the "Additional Efficiency Package Options" (C406, IECC 2018) is to be accomplished. Reference: Section C401.2, IECC 2018.
3. Provide heating and cooling load calculations to justify the heating/cooling capacities of the specified HVAC units. Reference: Section C403.1.1 and C403.3.1, IECC 2018.
4. Detail 7/M1.9 (mechanical west chase EA diagram) shows 12" diameter and 6" diameter exhaust ducts penetrating the 2-hour fire-rated shaft. A fire damper is shown at the 14" diameter duct penetrations but no such dampers are shown at the 8" duct penetrations. Explain why each duct penetration of the shaft is not equipped with a fire-smoke damper. Reference: Section 607.5.5, IMC 2018.

The IBC Table 506.2 indicates 48,000 SF/floor for a total of 240,000. Please check the allowable area, with setback increases included.
2. Sheet T2.0; Allowable Area Calculation: This Table indicates 58,963 SF allowable for the R-2 portion. The IBC Table 506.2 indicates 48,000 SF per floor. Please verify and revise the table as required with setback increases included.
3. Sheet T2.0; Construction Requirements: This table indicates construction types 1B and 2B. Please revise to IA and IIB construction types.
4. Sheet T2.0; Residential Unit Data: The number of accessible units required references the IBC Section 1107.6.2.1.1. Please revise that reference to Section 1107.6.2.2.1 and adjust the required number of accessible units per that Section.
5. Sheet T2.0; Construction Requirements: Partitions indicate a one hour separation between dwelling units. Per the IBC Section 708.3(2), fire partitions in Type IIB construction with automatic sprinklers per Section 903.3.1.1 may have a 1/2 hour fire resistance rating. Please verify.
