(1) In every required interior exit stairway, a hose connection shall be provided for each story above and below grade plane. Hose connections shall be located at the main floor landing unless otherwise approved by the fire code official. IFC, 2018, 507.5.1.1 Hydrant for Standpipe systems. Buildings equipped with a standpipe system installed in accordance with Section 905 shall have a fire hydrant within 100 feet of the fire department connections. 907.2.9.2 Automatic smoke detection system. Group R-2 occupancies requiring a fire alarm system per Section 907.2.9.1, an automatic smoke detection system that activates the occupant notification system in accordance with Section 907.5 shall be installed in all of the following locations: 1. Common spaces outside of dwelling units and sleeping units. 2. Laundry rooms, mechanical equipment rooms and storage rooms. 3. All interior corridors serving sleeping units or dwelling units. Exception: An automatic smoke detection system is not required in buildings that do not have interior corridors serving sleeping units or dwelling units and where each sleeping unit or dwelling unit either has a means of egress door opening directly to an exterior exit access that leads directly to an exit or a means of egress door opening directly to an exit. Required smoke alarms in dwelling units and sleeping units in Group R-2 occupancies shall be interconnected with the fire alarm system in accordance with NFPA 72. IFC 1009.8 Two-way communication. Shall be provided at the landing serving each elevator or bank of elevators on each accessible floor that is one or more stories above or below the level of exit discharge. Section 505.1 Address identification. New and existing buildings shall have approved address numbers, building numbers or approved building identification placed in a position that is plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property. Where required by the fire code official, address numbers shall be provided in additional approved locations to facilitate emergency response. Section 503.6.1 Electric operating gates. Gates that use electric or other means of power to automatically open or unlock shall have a manual override system. Manual override controls shall be located on the entrance side of gate, or when power has failed; the gate(s) shall open and stay open until power is restored for normal operations. Manual override controls shall be accessible; either on the ingress side or a walk gate shall be provided for override access on the egress side. Gates shall fail safe upon power loss. Section 503.3 Marking. Is hereby AMENDED by DELETING (in its entirety) and REPLACING with: Every fire apparatus access roadway required under the authority of this section shall be posted with signs installed at points not more than one-hundred (100) feet apart along the length of the required fire apparatus access roadway. The bottom of every such sign shall not be less than seven (7) feet or more than ten (10) feet from the ground surface level. Signs shall be posted to face the direction of travel. Construction, installation, and maintenance of the signs shall be done at no expense to the City. Materials and locations of each sign shall be indicated in the plans submitted to the fire department. Fire access signs shall conform to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The required sign shall be the international NO PARKING sign with a standard sign size (width and height) of 12 x 18 inches (300 x 450 mm), on a white reflective background. The international NO PARKING symbol shall be a black P, six inches high. Underneath the NO PARKING symbol, in one-and-fiveeighths inch high and one-quarter inch stroke, in red lettering it shall read: Fire alarm and Fire sprinkler designs as shown on the drawings do not count towards a submittal or as approved to install. Drawings to be submitted by licensed contractor for fire sprinkler and fire alarm as a differed submittal to Tucson Fire. Tucson Fire will approve the plans and issue a permit for this work. Plan set references KNOX or Supra...TFD only allows for KNOX boxes. Please provide KNOX boxes at the stairwells. A KNOX Elevator box, KNOX FDC locking caps and a KNOX gate switch for gates and one for the doors. Stairwell doors on a electronic lock shall also be connected to the fire alarm system. |
