07/28/2020 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. Clarify the arrangement of sumps in the Data Hall (131) and provide a detail of the sump pump installation. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2018. 2. Complete Section 3/1p.301 to include the domestic water that is labeled but not shown. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2018. 3. Verify that the emergency shower and eyewash (ESEW-1) is being installed per the manufacturer's installation requirements to ensure sufficient water flow (e.g. 1-1/4" supply piping, 30 PSI minimum flowing pressure). Note that the specified thermostatic mixing valve has a 25 PSI pressure drop at a flow rate of 20 GPM. Reference: Section 303.2, IPC 2018. 4. Verify that the specified sensor faucet for the public lavatories has an automatic time-out so that it will dispense a maximum of 0.25 gallons per metering cycle. Reference: Section 419.6, IPC 2018, as amended by the City of Tucson and Section 606.4, ICC/ANSI A117.1-09. 5. Verify that the distance from the hot water source (i.e. the circulating hot water loop) to the hot water termination for the public lavatories complies with the requirements of Section C404.5, IECC 2018. 6. Verify that the pipe sizes called out for the water closet flush valves will not result in water velocities greater than that recommended by the pipe manufacturer (e.g. limit the water velocity to less than 8 FPS for copper piping). At a minimum design flow rate of 25 GPM for a siphonic, flush-valve water closet, a 1" Type L copper pipe has a flow velocity of 9.7 FPS. Reference: Table 604.3, IPC 2018. 7. Appliances (e.g. coffee machines, ice makers, etc.) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Section 608.14.1, IPC 2018 require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Reference: Sections 608.1 and 608.3, and 608.17.1.2, IPC 2018. 8. Sump pump P-11 is discharging 30 GPM into service sink SS-1 as an indirect receptor. A pumped flow of 30 GPM is equivalent to 60 drainage fixture units and the sump pump shall not connect to an indirect receiver. Reference: Sections 709.3 and 712.3.5, IPC 2018. 9. Provide a vent for the ice machine drain (Gallery 213; see Gallery 121 on 1/1p.401). Reference: Section 901.2.1, IPC 2018. 10. A common vent is limited to serving two traps or trapped fixtures (see lavatories in Women's 107). Reference: Section 911.1, IPC 2018. 11. Provide roof drainage calculations; include the effect of any vertical walls that can divert rainfall onto the roof. Base the calculations on the 100-year hourly rainfall rate for Tucson, 3" per hour (0.031 GPM/Ft^2). See Section 1106.5, IPC 2018 for determining the dimensions of the scupper openings. Reference: Sections 1101, 1106 and 1108, IPC 2018. |

Provide construction documents that are complete and clearly indicate the extent of the proposed work (i.e. remove the "Preliminary, not for Construction" label from drawing 1m.412). Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2018. 2. Demonstrate energy code compliance for the building envelope and the mechanical systems using calculations based on the current code. Reference: Sections C101.5, C103.2, C303, and C401.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2018. 3. Show how one of the "Additional Efficiency Package Options" (C406, IECC 2018) is to be accomplished. Reference: Section C401.2, IECC 2018. 4. Provide heating and cooling load calculations to justify the heating/cooling capacities of the specified HVAC units. Reference: Section C403.1.1 and C403.3.1, IECC 2018. 5. Provide calculations to verify that adequate ventilation will be provided for the occupied spaces. Reference: Section 403.3.1.1, IMC 2018. 6. The exhaust flow rates for battery rooms 134 and 138 are less than 1 CFM per square foot of floor area. Provide calculations to verify that the flammability limit in each room complies with the requirements of Section 502.4.1, IMC 2018. |
