| 12/02/2020 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | Comment not addressed. [Third comment: Revise the outside air calculations using the definition of "net occupiable floor area" shown in Section 202, IMC 2018.] [Second comment: The outside air schedule still references ASHRAE 62-1989 and the UBC. The City of Tucson did not adopt ASHRAE Standard 62.1 for ventilation calculations and the 2018 IMC only references the ASHRAE Standard for the purpose of calculating the system ventilation efficiency (Ev). Provide calculations to show that the ventilation system is sized in accordance with Section 403.3, IMC 2018; for HVAC systems serving multiple zones (e.g. AC-5 and AC-6), see Section 403.3.1.1.2.3, IMC 2018.] [Initial comment: The ventilation calculations ("Fresh Air Schedule") are based on the UBC and ASHRAE 62-1989. Provide calculations based on the current code to verify that adequate ventilation will be provided for the occupied spaces. Reference: Section 403.3.1.1, IMC 2018.] |
| 12/02/2020 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. The proposed lavatory faucet, a Watts P1070 is not a metering faucet. A metering faucet is required. [Third comment: Provide a thermostatic mixing valve listed to ASSE 1070 to provide tempered water to the L-1 lavatories in the public restrooms. TV-1 is listed to ASSE 1017 and will interfere with the operation of ASSE 1070 mixing valves by reducing the entering hot water temperature below the operating range of the ASSE 1070 mixing valves.] [Second comment: Per the manufacturer of the specified temperature mixing valve, TV-1, it is not listed to ASSE Standard 1070 and, "…[it] cannot be used for tempering water temperature at fixtures." In addition, tempered water is defined as being between 89- and 110-degrees Fahrenheit. Reference: Sections 202, 303.2 and 419.5, IPC 2018.] [Initial comment: Provide tempered water for the public restroom lavatories using approved devices conforming to ASSE 1070. (Why does the plumbing fixture schedule show no water connections for lavatory L-1?) Reference: Sections 416.5 and 607.1.2, IPC 2018.] 2. Comment not resolved; see the domestic water schematic diagram on sheet MP3. [Third comment: The lavatories in the public restrooms (L-1) are further from the hot water source than allowed by Section C404.5, IECC 2018. Lavatory L-2 serves a private restroom and only needs to be within 21-feet of the hot water source (with a ¾:" supply) per Table C404.5.1, IECC 2018.] [Second comment: Section C404.5 requires a maximum distance of 2-feet from the hot water source to the lavatory stop valve when using ½" branch pipe.] [Initial comment: Verify that the distance from the hot water source (i.e. the recirculating hot water loop) to the hot water termination for the public lavatories complies with the requirements of Section C404.5, IECC 2018.] |
