01/29/2020 | KEN VAN KARSEN | BUILDING-RESIDENTIAL | REVIEW | Completed | >>> Louis Woofenden <louis@netzerosolar.net> 01/28/2020 9:12 AM >>> Hi Tom, I hope you had a good weekend! Good to talk to you on Friday. Thanks again for the correction on the code version in the title block--a silly mistake on my part. As you've seen for the past 12+ months of permits, I know what code cycle we're on, I just failed to update that information for this particular job, since our client has been seriously thinking about solar since before the adoption of the 2018 IRC and 2017 NEC. Other than that issue with the title block, all references were to current codes in the original submission. You'll see rapid shutdown information, etc. Although I'm heading out of town later this morning, my business partner, Chad Waits would like to sit down soon with someone soon to better understand the request for PE stamps on the electrical and structural. I guess I'm still a bit puzzled, as there seems to be nothing on the residential checklist (which I checked before submittal) about this. Of course, I didn't even think to check the commercial checklist, as this home is clearly a residential occupancy, and zoning is R-1. The structural/attachment is nothing special--just on more roof decks than a typical residential system because of size. We're only proposing adding a 175A service to an existing CT cabinet, and we have confirmed that the available fault current at the CT cabinet is less than 10kA per TEP, confirming what was shown on the original plans for the service from Records. Can you help us understand who Chad might be able to sit down with and discuss? Not sure if that's you, or Clayton, or someone else? For reference, I'm attaching construction plans with the title block showing the correct code versions, as well as notes on 1-line and 3-line regarding the available fault current. Thanks for your help, Louis |
