02/05/2019 | AHINES2 | TUCSON WATER NEW AREA DEVELOPMENT | REVIEW | Completed | After reviewing the Dunkin Donuts site plan, and notes, I noticed there is a 6" fire hydrant at the SW corner of the site. Normally commercial establishments require 8" fire hydrants. If the fire department is ok with a slightly less than 1,000 gpm flow from this hydrant to satisfy commercial fire flow requirements then it may be ok to leave this existing hydrant as is. However, the site plan is showing a proposed monument sign near the existing fire hydrant location. Tucson Water SD 500 has specific standards for placement of fire hydrants. In this case the monument sign can not be placed within 5 feet of an existing or proposed fire hydrant (see note on page 2 of 8 of SD 500). See web link below. https://www.tucsonaz.gov/files/water/docs/StandardSpecsDetails/SD-500.pdf Thanks.
