07/11/2019 PIMA COUNTY BUILDING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change Reviewer: Chris Anderson, July 11, 2019
1. Please respond to all review comments in writing.
2. On Specification sheet A001 please add a specification for 1-hour fire-stop(s). Ref. 2018 IBC 107.2.1.
3. On sheet A501, section 3, please provide an enlarged detail for the roof-side wall of the proposed duct enclosure to show how the duct will be sealed at the penetration and how the bottom of the enclosure will be installed at the top of the existing parapet to allow for moisture drainage from behind the panels to the exterior. Ref. 2018 IBC 107.2.1 and 1402.2.
4. On sheet A602, detail 6, please show how moisture that may penetrate behind the vertical duct enclosure finish panels will be directed to the exterior. Ref. 2018 IBC 1402.2.
5. Keynote 1 on sheet MH121 says "see architectural drawings for roof flashing details;" however there are none in the architectural sheets for the purge exhaust DTR penetration. Please provide. Ref. 2018 IBC 107.2.1.
07/11/2019 PIMA COUNTY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change Reviewer: Chris Anderson, July 11, 2019
1. The Anhydrous Ammonia Specification on sheet M002 calls for 22 PPM maximum water, whereas ANSI/IIAR 2-2014 Table 5.2.2 calls for 33 PPM maximum water. Is the 22 a typo or is it intended that this maximum water content is to be provided?
2. Submit cooling load calculations summary sheets to justify capacity shown on sheet M501 for fan coil unit FCU-1. Ref. 2018 IECC C403.3.1.
3. On sheet M501 the calculation for emergency ammonia ventilation per 2018 IMC 1105.6.3 which references ANSI/IIAR 2-2014 (Section 6.14.7.1) is based on 30 air changes per hour. Please provide the calculation to show how 7,350 CFM was determined.
4. In the Machinery Room Checklist, sheet M501, the "ammonia exception (vapor detector)" to 2018 IMC 1106.3 is used that would allow the exhaust fan not to operate continuously. However, in the Sequence of Operation, sheet MI602, exhaust fan IREF-1 is show as running continuously. Please explain.
5. Submit a mechanical cooling equipment COMcheck showing compliance with the 2018 IECC Section C403.
6. In the Sequence of Operation on sheet MI602 under Refrigerant Detection and Alarm, the item 4 under Level 1 Alarm states that "Horn strobe devices may be disabled automatically in the event the ammonia level drops below 25 PPM." Please change "disabled automatically" to "automatically reset" in compliance with ANSI/IIAR 2-2014 Section 6.13.2.2.
7. General Note A on sheet MI603 states "overall refrigeration system design including equipment selection, controls integration, equipment layout and startup by refrigeration equipment vendor." Is it intended that the refrigeration design and equipment will be submitted to the City of Tucson as a deferred submittal? If so, provide a note on the cover sheet stating this. If not, submit the vendor's package with the next submittal.
8. Little information is provided in keynotes 1 and 2 on sheet MH211 regarding the makeup air louvers. Please add information to show compliance with ANSI/IIAR 2-2014 Section 6.14.5.3 and 6.14.5.6.
9. On the System Flow Diagram, sheet MI603, should there be a cooled ammonia refrigerant return line from condenser to chiller?
07/11/2019 PIMA COUNTY ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change Reviewer: Charlie Bard, July 11, 2019
1. Per American National Standard ANSI/IIAR 2-2014 Section 6.8.3 Electrical safety, electrical design documents shall indicate whether the machinery room is designated as an ordinary location or as a hazardous (classification) location. Provide note on plan.
2. On the Single Line Diagram - Overall, sheet E-601, are "terminal cabinet police and MOCA" with circuits running to the COT police headquarters building and the MOCA bldg. existing or are they new? I couldn't find these items on the electric new work plans or the floor plan.
3. On sheet E-603 please indicate wire sizing for panel controls 8H to 8D.
