07/02/2019 ROBERT SHERRY WATER REVIEW Reqs Change 1. Clarify the size of the new water meter; the civil plans show a 2" meter but the plumbing plans show a 1-1/2" water meter.
2. Clarify the purpose of the Watts 009 backflow preventer located after the water filter. If this backflow preventer is to be installed in addition to the reduced pressure backflow preventer located after the water meter, include its pressure drop in the water pressure calculations. Reduced pressure backflow prevention assemblies are required to be installed directly after the water meter for buildings that have food service facilities and in locations accessible to Tucson Water. Reference: Chapter XXVII, Article V, Section 27-72, the Tucson Code, http://www.tucsonaz.gov/files/water/docs/backflow-ordinance.pdf
07/02/2019 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1. Revise the energy code analysis for the building envelope, coordinating the building components used in the analysis with those shown on the drawing (e.g. roof and wall insulation). Reference: Section C303.1, IECC 2018, as amended by the City of Tucson.
2. Provide heating and cooling load calculations to justify the heating/cooling capacities of the specified HVAC units. Reference: Section C403.1.1, IECC 2018.
3. Show that each rooftop unit has a thermostatic control that provides for off-hour and set-back control, automatic shutdown and automatic start-up control (i.e. the thermostat is capable of automatically adjusting the start time of the HVAC equipment in order to bring the interior conditions to the desired temperature at the start of occupancy) and, if the thermostat does not require manual changeover from the heating and cooling modes, it restricts set point overlap. Reference: Section C403.4.2 through C403.4.2.3, IECC 2018.
4. Show that the walk-in cooler meets the efficiency requirements of Section C403.10.2.1, IECC 2018.
07/02/2019 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1. Verify that the distance to the hot water termination from the hot water source (i.e. the recirculating hot water loop) to the restroom lavatories complies with the requirements of Section C404.5, IECC 2018.
2. Appliances (e.g. beverage dispensers, ice makers, etc.) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Section 608.14.1, IPC 2018 require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Reference: Sections 608.1 and 608.3, IPC 2018.
3. Provide separate indirect waste pipes for each compartment of the 3-compartment sink to protect against cross-contamination or fouling. Reference: Sections 801.2 and 802.1.1, IPC 2018.
4. Notwithstanding note #3 on sheet P-3, four vents are noted as "flatvents". Verify that all of the vents (except for vents serving interceptors located outdoors) rise vertically to at least 6" above the flood rims of the fixtures they protect prior to running horizontally (i.e. flatvents are not allowed). Reference: Section 905.4, IPC 2018.
5. Clarify the connected loads or input ratings for each appliance. Southwest Gas, the local gas utility provides natural gas with an energy content of approximately 1,000 BTU per cubic foot (i.e. 1 Cubic Foot per Hour = 1,000 BTUH). Reference: Section 402.1, IFGC 2018.
6. Coordinate the natural gas demands shown on the Gas Load Calculation (P-3), the Plumbing Schedule (P-3, P-4, and P-5), the gas isometric diagram (P-7), and the AC Unit Schedule (M-1). Check the addition.
7. If the manufacturer does not incorporate a sediment trap within the gas-fired equipment (e.g. the water heater), provide a sediment trap downstream of the appliance shut off valve, as close to the equipment as possible. Reference: Section 408.4, IFGC 2018.
