03/04/2019 | PIMA COUNTY | BUILDING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | BUILDING – COMMERCIAL 1. Please provide a complete set of drawings ready for approval for each submittal rather than only the sheets that required revision. The City of Tucson DSD will not recompile drawing sets for approval. |
03/04/2019 | PIMA COUNTY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | MECHANICAL – COMMERCIAL Please provide a complete set of drawings ready for approval for each submittal rather than only the sheets that required revision. The City of Tucson DSD will not recompile drawing sets for approval. Regarding response to previous mechanical review comment 1, the submitted load calculations for RTU-1, RTU-2 and RTU-3 indicate summer peak design conditions that are not applicable to Tucson. While the front sheet shows summer DB design temperature at 103.1 degrees F which is in line with the City of Tucson amendment to the 2018 IECC, the individual unit sheets seem to indicate summer OADB temperatures of 87-degrees F for RTU-1, 94-degrees F for RTU-2, and 89-degrees F for RTU-3. Please explain. The sensible cooling capacity of RTU-1 is shown in the equipment schedule on sheet M0.1 as 32.5 MBH while the cooling load in the calculations is only 16.5 MBH, the cooling capacity per schedule for RTU-2 is 31.9 MBH while the sensible cooling load is only 9.7 MBH and the sensible cooling capacity for RTU-3 is 37.6 MBH with a sensible cooling load of only 14.3 MBH. In effect the proposed capacities more than double the calculated cooling loads for this facility and this is not acceptable. The selected units shall be the equipment with output capacities that are not greater than that of the smallest available equipment size that exceeds the calculated loads. Ref. 2018 IECC C403.3.1. Regarding response to previous mechanical review comment 2, the BAS sequence of operation shown on Novar sheet 03 does not seem to include instructions for automatic start-up control to bring interior conditions to the desired temperature at start of occupancy nor does it indicate that the system will restrict set point overlap during changeover from heating to cooling modes. Please revise the sequencing instructions to add these Code requirements. Regarding response to previous mechanical review comment 3, the revised sheet P2.2 refers to detail 8/P5.1. However, per City of Tucson amendment to 2012 IMC 307.2.1 a roof splash block is not an approved place of disposal for condensate. Per amendment, condensate shall be run to a slop sink or laundry tray, to ground level, or over roof drains or downspouts provided they terminate at or above grade. |
03/04/2019 | PIMA COUNTY | ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | ELECTRICAL – COMMERCIAL 1. Please provide a complete set of drawings ready for approval for each submittal rather than only the sheets that required revision. The City of Tucson DSD will not recompile drawing sets for approval. 2. Regarding response to previous electrical review comment 3, while fault currents were shown on the new revised electric panel schedules no calculations have been provided. Also, note 1 on sheet E5.1 has not been removed or modified and still requires the contractor to calculate fault current. This is not acceptable. |
03/04/2019 | KROBLES1 | WATER | REVIEW | Reqs Change | WATER – COMMERCIAL Since a new water meter is to be installed for this tenant improvement per response to previous water review comment 1, please contact Gerry Koziol (520-724-6503) at Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (RWRD) regarding a sewer connection permit required whenever a new water meters is provided. Submit proof of permit with next submittal. |
03/04/2019 | PIMA COUNTY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | PLUMBING – COMMERCIAL Please provide a complete set of drawings ready for approval for each submittal rather than only the sheets that required revision. The City of Tucson DSD will not recompile drawing sets for approval. Regarding response to previous plumbing review comment 1, the gas isometric and gas plan show that the existing 1 ¼” gas main continues on to the north and does not end at RTU-3. The size of the existing gas main suggests that there are other gas-fired appliances connected to it that are not shown on the plan or isometric. While a 1 ¼” line is sufficient to accommodate RTU-1, RTU-2 and RTU-3, it may not be large enough if other appliances are connected to it. If other appliances are connected or if laterals exist for appliances that are not presently connected but which may be connected in the future, include them in the diagram so that the size of the pipe can be verified. If other appliances are not connected, show the line termination. Regarding response to previous plumbing review comment 3, please explain how the revision of the pressure available at the main from 40 psi to 84 psi responds to the reviewer’s comment that the minimum flow pressure provided to fixtures be 16 psi or the manufacturer’s prescribed flow pressure, whichever is larger. Regarding response to previous plumbing review comment 7, the maximum temperature for hot water is 110-degrees F per 2012 IPC 607.1.2. The water temperature indicated on detail 1/P5.1 should be 110-degrees F and not 120-degrees F. |
