06/05/2018 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. The submitted envelope compliance certificate is based on a tenant improvement to a building that was previously conditioned and occupied. This activity must be considered as new construction and not as an alteration. If bringing the suite to full compliance with the current code is not feasible, submit an appeal to the building official with your proposal to best approach full compliance with the current energy code. [Initial comment: The portion of the building shell being modified in this activity does not appear to have been conditioned. Section C101.4.5, IECC 2012 requires the space to be brought into full compliance with the current energy code. Provide energy code compliance calculations for the building envelope; use the climate zone for Tucson. Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the building envelope. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation and the SHGC for the fenestration. Reference: Sections C103.2, C401.2, and C406, International Energy Conservation Code 2012.] 2. Revise the heating and cooling calculations using the exterior design conditions shown in Section 302.2, IECC 2012, as modified by the City of Tucson. Include the load from the introduction of outside air flow rate shown in the balancing data. Ensure that the total capacity of each unit is justified by the load calculations. [Initial comment: Provide heating and cooling load calculations that justify the capacities of the heating and cooling equipment specified for the project. Reference: Sections C302.2, C403.2.1, and C403.2.2, IECC 2012 as amended by the City of Tucson, and Section 312.1, IMC 2012.] |
