Per exception to 1004.1.2 the customer must submit an Appeal to the Building Official to obtain his approval before the drawings can be approved. Please find the Appeal process on the City of Tucson Planning & Development Services website. The previous IBC use for this building was M – mercantile. Because this is a change of use from M - mercantile to B – business, restrooms must comply with current Code requirements for B - business occupancy. Per 2012 IBC 2902.1.1 “fractional numbers resulting from applying the fixture ratios of Table 2901.1 shall be rounded up to the next whole number.” Per calculations for B occupancy, three water closets and three lavatories are required for each sex. The customer must submit an Appeal to the Building Official to obtain his approval before the drawings can be approved.
