SUBJECT: Swan Park Crossing Improvements
PIA Plan # T17PI00032

PROJECT REVIEWER: Zelin Canchola,
DOT Review Section

RESUBMITTAL REQUIRED: DOT Review Section has reviewed the PIA Plan for Traffic Engineering. Please revise as noted and redlined on sheet 4 of 8

1. Remove School zone signs, S1-1, W16-7PL. Cross walk is not designated as a school zone crossing.

2. Refer to PCDOT and TDOT pavement marking design manual for object marker requirements for speed humps/tables. Should be 4 inch PVC tube.

3. List quantities and descriptions of striping.

4. Show marking details and symbol legends according to pavement marking standards.

5. Eliminate cross hatch striping. The 12 inch white striping for cross walk is acceptable.

07/19/2017 BESPINO1 DOT PERMITS & CODES REVIEW Denied Swan Park Wash Crossing Comments:

1) Clarify extents of handrail on sheet 4 and/or sheet 7.
2) Explain and show on plans how low flow drainage is allowed to continue flowing at location of new speed table.
3) Provide additional details for grading and erosion protection along west curbline, where existing scour and erosion has been seen. This can be a maintenance issue where children walk along new western sidewalk where erosion has been seen to significant. Shy space may need erosion protection (or reseeding?) as well as on west edge of new sidewalk ~ STA 13+00 to 17+00. to minimize erosion and scour.
4) Add to drainage statement that:
a) The project complies with City requirement: At any point where a ten-year frequency flood discharge is proposed to cross a sidewalk or pedestrian access, the sidewalk /access shall be designed and constructed to convey up to and including the ten-year frequency flood flows under the sidewalk /access.
b) The project is located in Tucson Arroyo Watershed which is a non-designated basin management area.
c) Explain maintenance responsibility and provide general guidance (few sentences or short table) of maintenance guidelines.
5) Add notes to sheet 2:
a) All sidewalks must have a minimum unobstructed vertical clearance of 84 inches.
b) Add to general construction note 1, City of Tucson Technical Standards.
c) Add to note 30 to explain that tree near STA 12+75 will be required to be trimmed to allow for sight visibility of new signage and pedestrians from oncoming northbound vehicles.
6) Show easement for area outside of right-of-way.
7) If necessary, show any relocation of existing signs along eastern side of roadway near pedestrian bridge.
