06/08/2017 JOSE ORTIZ DOT TRAFFIC REVIEW Reqs Change Hi Donna,

Thank you for sending me the submittal. Generally, looks very good. A do have a couple minor comments:

1) For the street name sign at Warren/7th Street please delete the cardinal direction and use the following:

Warren Ave 400 N

7th St 1700 E

2) I did see the arrow pointing to the "cradle" in the street name sign mounting detail. There is significantly more detail regarding the cradle in the drawing I sent Bob Alcala, but if the information is in the Special Provisions, then I don't think it needs to be included on the plan set.

3) I noticed the new FLOOD HAZARD AREA signs, and I suspect these 18x18 warning signs are intended for pedestrians crossing the alley alignment when flooded. Am I correct? If so, I suggest a black-and-white (regulatory sign) that reads "NO PEDESTRIAN CROSSING WHEN FLOODED." It would be similar to the MUTCD R9-3a. Pedestrians are accustomed to ignoring signs posted for motor-vehicles so I am suggesting this sign message that makes it clear that the message is directed to pedestrians.

They are not in the public right-of-way, but I am bemused by the NO PARKING WHEN FLOODED | FLOOD HAZARD AREA, because if you park in the morning, and it floods in the afternoon, and you car is surrounded by water ... well, you were warned, I suppose. Technically, a "NO PARKING" message is a regulatory message and is more appropriately used on a regulatory sign. My suggestion for this sign is "FLOOD HAZARD AREA | PARK AT YOUR OWN RISK."

Let me know if you have any questions. I am out of the office tomorrow and Monday, Memorial Day holiday.
