| 10/02/2017 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. This project is under the jurisdiction of the City of Tucson. The 2012 International Plumbing Code with Local Amendments and the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code with Local Amendments are the primary codes for the mechanical portion of this activity. 2. The shell building being modified in this activity was not conditioned. Section C101.4.5, IECC 2012 requires the space to be brought into full compliance with the current energy code. Provide energy code compliance calculations for this suite of the building envelope; use the climate zone for Tucson. Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of this suite of the building envelope. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation and the SHGC for the fenestration. Reference: Sections C103.2 and C401.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2012. 3. Show how one of the "Additional Efficiency Package Options" (C406, IECC 2012) is to be accomplished. Reference: Section C401.2, IECC 2012. 4. No building permit on record shows the installation of the two rooftop A/C units noted as "existing" on sheet M1. Show that the rooftop A/C units meet the requirements of Sections C302.2 (as amended by the City of Tucson), C403.2.1, C403.2.2, C403.2.3, C403.2, and C403.3, IECC 2012 (e.g. provide the mechanical energy code compliance certification from COMcheck). Reference: Section C303.1, International Energy Conservation Code 2012. 5. Provide calculations to show how adequate ventilation will be provided for the occupied spaces. Reference: Sections 403.1 and 403.2, IMC 2012. 6. Revise the hood installation notes to comply with Section 507.9, IMC 2012 that requires a smooth, cleanable, non-absorbent, and non-combustible material (e.g. stainless steel) installed between the hood and the wall, and extending 18" beyond the hood. Eliminating the stainless steel directly behind the hood does comply with the requirements of Section 507.9, IMC 2012. 7. The equipment plan shows two "Rubbermaid Slim Fit Trash Receptacles" (#35A) located on either side of the grill and Type I hood. Provide the manufacturer's recommended clearances from combustibles. Reference: Section 303.1, IMC 2012. 8. Evaporative cooling systems that do not include water recycling or reuse systems are prohibited by the Arizona Revised Statues, ARS 45-313. Verify that MAU-1 recycles the cooling water. |

| 10/03/2017 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. This project is under the jurisdiction of the City of Tucson. The 2012 International Mechanical Code with Local Amendments, the 2012 International Fuel Gas Code with local amendments, and the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code with Local Amendments are the primary codes for the plumbing portion of this activity. 2. Provide a demolition drawing showing the utilities that were installed with the building shell and are now being relocated by this activity (e.g. water service, gas meter and gas piping to the A/C units, the building drain, gravity grease interceptor, and the building sewer). Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. 3. Edit the plumbing notes and "mandatory measures" to contain only those items that apply to this activity. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. 4. Provide plumbing plans for the new work, including water isometrics and waste and vent isometrics. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. 5. Provide pressure-absorbing devices for the water connections to appliances equipped with quick-acting or solenoid valves (e.g. tea brewers). The pressure-absorbing devices shall conform to ASSE 1010; an air chamber is not acceptable. Reference: Section 604.9, IPC 2012. 6. Provide automatic faucets for the restroom lavatories, dispensing a maximum of 0.25 gallons per metering cycle. Verify that the automatic faucets will operate for a minimum time of 10-seconds. Reference: Section 416.6, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson and Section 606.4, ICC/ANSI A117.1-09. 7. The hot water capacity with the proposed water heater is only 4.9 GPM with an 77 degree Fahrenheit rise (9.5 GPM with an 77 degree Fahrenheit rise) but the hot water demand appears to be over 17 GPM using Table E103.3(2) and Table E103.3(3), IPC 2012. Show how the proposed water heater will be able to supply the projected hot water demand. Reference: Section 607.1, IPC 2012. 8. Provide tempered water for the restroom lavatories using approved devices conforming to ASSE 1070. Reference: Sections 416.5 and 607.1.2, IPC 2012. 9. The maximum developed length of the hot water supply piping appears to be greater than fifty feet; provide a method for maintaining the temperature of the hot water supply system. Reference: Section 607.2, IPC 2012. 10. Water supply connections to beverage dispensers (e.g. soda dispensers, tea brewers, etc.) shall be protected with backflow preventers conforming to ASSE 1022. Reference: Section 608.16.1, IPC 2012. 11. Provide separate indirect waste pipes for each compartment of the 3-compartment sink to protect against cross-contamination or fouling. Reference: Sections 801.2 and 802.1.8, IPC 2012. 12. Indirect waste piping that has a developed length greater than 30-inches (30") when measured horizontally or greater than 54-inches (54") in total developed length shall be trapped. Exception: indirect waste piping conveying only clear-water waste (e.g. effluent from a sanitizing compartment) does not require a trap. Reference: Section 802.2, IPC 2012. 13. The specified hydromechanical grease interceptor (Schier GB3) requires the installation of a valve or a flow restriction device on the indirect waste piping when sinks discharge into a floor sink prior to the interceptor. Show how the waste flow into the floor sink will be regulated to prevent an overflow on the kitchen floor. Reference: Sections 303.2 and 1003.3.4.2, IPC 2012. 14. Hand sinks in the kitchen are allowed to connect to the sanitary waste system instead of the grease waste system only if each sink has a sign posted above it stating, "HANDWASH SINK ONLY! NO FOOD PREPARATION OR DISHWASHING ALLOWED." Reference: Section 1003.3, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson. |
