03/30/2017 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. The specified expansion tank (Amtrol AX-15) noted in the water heater schedule is not listed for use in a potable water system; see the expansion tank specified in the water heater detail. (Note that the IECC sections shown in the water heater detail are from the 2003 edition of the code and should be updated.) [Initial comment: Coordinate the water heater detail (3/P0.2) with the plumbing fixture schedule and the equipment schedules. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.] 2. Revise the size of the section of the sump vent shown in the sump pump connection detail from 1-1/2" to 2" per Table 906.5.1, IPC 2012. Show how the invert of the discharge from the water closet is to be 6" above the floor level when the centerline of the discharge is only 4" above the floor level. [Initial comment: Provide a detail to show that the installation of the specified grinder pump assembly complies with the manufacturer's listing requirements (e.g. show the required pipe inverts, the valves, and the minimum drop from the fixtures to the sump). Verify that the proposed vent complies with Table 906.5.1, IPC 2012 for size and maximum length. Reference: Section 303.2, IPC 2012.] 3. The specified faucet (Delta 523-HDF-DST) is not a metering faucet. [Initial comment: Provide an automatic faucet for the lavatory, dispensing a maximum of 0.25 gallons per metering cycle. Verify that the automatic faucet will operate for a minimum time of 10-seconds. Reference: Section 416.6, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson and Section 606.4, ICC/ANSI A117.1-09.] 4. No thermostatic mixing valve is shown in any detail. In addition, the specified thermostatic mixing valve is a discontinued product that was listed to ASSE 1017, not the required ASSE 1-070. [Initial comment: Provide tempered water for the restroom lavatory using a device conforming to ASSE 1070. Reference: Sections 416.5 and 607.1.2, IPC 2012.] 5. While the pipe connected to the flush valve in restroom 113 is 1-1/4", the water piping schematic on sheet P2.1shows a 1" water pipe supplying the 1-1/4" pipe. [Initial comment: Show the size of the pipe serving the flush valve and verify that it will not result in water velocities greater than that recommended by the pipe manufacturer (e.g. limit the water velocity to less than 8 FPS for copper, PEX, or CPVC piping). At a minimum design flow rate of 25 GPM for a siphonic, flush-valve water closet, a 1" Type L copper pipe has a flow velocity of 9.7 FPS. Reference: Table 604.3, IPC 2012.] |
