| 04/15/2016 | ROBERT SHERRY | WATER | REVIEW | Reqs Change | Provide a reduced pressure backflow prevention assembly to be installed directly after the water meter for the water service to the building. Show the location of the assembly on the drawings. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC and Chapter XXVII, Article V, Section 27-72, the Tucson Code, http://www.tucsonaz.gov/files/water/docs/backflow-ordinance.pdf |
| 04/15/2016 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. Coordinate the waste and vent schematic with the plumbing plans. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. 2. The size of the fixture drain serving the clothes washer and lavatory L-2 is not specified. The fixture drain serving an automatic clothes washer shall connect to a fixture branch that is at least 3 inches in diameter. Reference: Section 406.2, IPC 2012. 3. Tucson Water estimates that the water pressure range for this address will be 41 to 48 PSI, not the 60 PSI value used to determine the pipe sizes. Reevaluate the pipe sizes based on the expected minimum water pressure. Reference: Section 604.1 and E201.1 (2), IPC 2012. 4. Clarify the purpose of installing a backflow preventer (General Note 9 on sheet P1.1, Watts 9DM) on equipment with solenoid valves but not installing water hammer arrestors (ASSE 1010). Reference: Section 604.9, IPC 2012. 5. Detail 1/P2.1 shows a recirculating hot water system. If this is intended, show the size and routing of the hot water return piping on the plumbing plan. Reference: Section 607.2, IPC 2012. 6. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each direct water connection to an appliance. Reference: Sections 608.1 and 608.3, IPC 2012. 7. Water supply connections to beverage dispensers (e.g. coffee makers, etc.) shall be protected with backflow preventers conforming to ASSE 1022. Reference: Section 608.16.1, IPC 2012. 8. The Kitchen Equipment Schedule on sheet A4.1 calls for a 0.5" direct drain connection for the side rinse spray (K-1); show how this is to be accomplished. Reference: Section 702.1, IPC 2012. 9. Provide a direct connection for the bar sink (K-13). Reference: Sections 301.3 and 802.1, IPC 2012. 10. Provide separate indirect waste pipes for each compartment of the 3-compartment sink to protect against cross-contamination or fouling. Reference: Sections 801.2 and 802.1.8, IPC 2012. 11. Correct General Note 22 on sheet P1.1 to comply with the requirements of the 2012 IPC. Indirect waste piping that has a developed length greater than 30-inches (30") when measured horizontally or greater than 54-inches (54") in total developed length shall be trapped. Exception: indirect waste piping conveying only clear-water waste (e.g. effluent from a sanitizing compartment) does not require a trap. Reference: Section 802.2, IPC 2012. 12. Verify if an existing grease interceptor is currently in place to prevent the discharge of fats, oil, and grease into the public sewer. If a grease interceptor is not in place, show how the public sewer is to be protected from harmful discharges. Reference: Section 1003.1, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson. 13. Correct the total natural gas load shown in the gas schematic on sheet P3.1; the total load is 260 MBH, not 225 MBH. Based on a total developed pipe length of 149 feet, the natural gas pipe serving the coffee roaster is undersized per Table 402.4 (2). Reference: Section 402.4, IFGC 2012. 14. Revise detail 1/P2.1 to show the location of the sediment trap downstream of the appliance shut off valve. Reference: Section 408.4, IFGC 2012. 15. Detail 1/M1.1 shows the direct venting configuration for the water heater using 2" CPVC. Provide the maximum developed vent length information for the 2" CPVC instead of the information for 3" CPVC. Verify that the termination of the vent complies with the manufacturer's installation instructions for clearances. Reference: Section 503.8, IFGC 2012. |
