09/14/2016 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change The revised venting system has two basic issues. First, each vent shall rise at least 6" above the flood rim of the fixture it serves prior to offsetting horizontally and 6" above the flood rim of the highest fixture before connecting to another vent (Sections 905.4 and 905.5, IPC 2012). Second, the vents shall be graded to drain back to the fixture by gravity; dropping down below the floor and then rising up through the roof is not allowed (Section 905.2, IPC 2012). [Third comment: Clarify the type of venting system used for the bar area in revision 2; air admittance valves are not allowed to be used in combination waste and vent systems and most of the branches do not appear to be circuit-vented. Reference: Sections 901.2.1 and 918.3, IPC 2012.] [Second comment: Unless the sinks are used for storage, preparation, or handling of food, they must be directly-connected to the drainage system. Reference: Sections 301.3 and 802.1, IPC 2012.] [Initial comment: Clarify the reason for using an indirect waste connection for the dump and hand sinks located at the bar and the server station. Reference: Section 802.1, IPC 2012.]
09/14/2016 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change Raising a down-blast fan 36" above the roof does not serve to disperse the exhaust as the requirement implies. Try using an up-blast fan with the discharge terminating 36" above the roof. [Initial comment: The revised design now includes provisions for a CO2 gas ventilation system but the specified exhaust fan does not terminate 36" above the roof level as required in the Tucson Fire Department's Standard Operating Guideline (see sheet A3.1). Note that the Guideline also has specific alarm and control requirements that will need to be addressed (e.g. a manual activation switch located at the room entrance, evacuation alarms, etc.).]
