Please provide on the plans a plumbing fixture calculation for the building. A few fixtures are being removed and not replaced; we need to verify that adequate fixtures are still in place per 2012 IBC Table 2902.1. Sheet g1.0 1. Please indicate on the cover sheet that modification to the automatic fire sprinkler system and fire alarm system will be provided as part of this project (as required by 2012 IBC Sec. 903.2.1.3 and 907.2.1) and that the automatic fire sprinkler system design and fire alarm design will be submitted under a separate permit. 2. This project involves the installation of engineered prefabricated steel trusses. Either provide the prefabricated steel truss drawings at this time or list on this sheet as a deferred submittal and include the following notes: PER IBC Section 107.3.4.1 <Name of Registrant>, the registered design professional in charge shall be responsible for reviewing and coordinating submittal documents prepared by others, including phased and deferred submittal items, for compatibility with the design of the building. PER IBC Section 107.3.4.2 Submittal documents for deferred submittal items shall be submitted to the registered design professional in responsible charge, who shall review them and forward them to the Building Official with a notation indicating that the deferred submittal documents have been reviewed and that they have been found to be in general conformance with the design of the building. 3. Note on the cover of the drawings that special inspection is required for epoxy anchors, expansion anchors, high-strength bolts, and field welding. Also, provide a City of Tucson special inspection certificate form(s). Making sure that the owner or their legal representative signs the form(s). Sheet g2.7 1. Under the code analysis on this sheet the 2012 IBC Table 601, footnote "b" reference is partially correct. Footnote "b" only applies to the "roof construction" portion of the table; the "primary structural frame" portion of the table does not make reference to Footnote "b". The "primary structural frame" does utilize Footnotes "a" and "g". Footnote "a" allows the fire resistance of the primary structural frame to be reduced by 1-hour where supporting a roof only; in this case the rating could be reduced from 2-hours to 1-hour. Footnote "g" requires the Page 3 of 3 \\us1322-f03\workgroup\1852\active\185215009_tucson\2016\tuc_16_013_city_of_tucson_city_courts_building_tenant_improvement_rev1.docx rating to be not less than that required by 2012 IBC Sec. 704.10; i.e. the higher values in either Table 601 or 602. In this case Table 602 requires 0-hours since the structure in question is greater than 30 feet from the property line. The primary structural frame that supports this roof structure which appears to be per Sheet S2.1 Trusses T1A, T2, T4, and T5, and associated columns all require 1-hour fire protection per 2012 IBC Table 601. {The question was asked via email if providing fire sprinklers at the translucent roof canopy could be utilized to substitute for protecting the primary structural frame with a intumescent fireresistive coating. There are no such provisions in the code that allow for this substitution, although you could formally submit an appeal to the Building Official to seek such a substitution.} STRUCUTRAL COMMENTS There are no comments. |
