The minimum dimension for a scupper is 4" so a 0.90" scupper width is not allowed (Section 1108.3, IPC 2012). [Second comment: A scupper is a weir, not horizontal pipe and its cross-sectional area does not determine its capacity. Consult with the structural engineer to determine the maximum rainwater depth that the roof can accommodate. Reference: Sections 1611.1 and 1611.3, IBC 2012.] [Initial comment: Provide roof drainage and hydraulic scupper size calculations based on the 100-year hourly rainfall rate for Tucson, 3" per hour.
