Plans must be of sufficient clarity to indicate the location, nature and extent of the work proposed, 102.2.1. In order to facilitate a shorter back check time, we request that you please provide two complete sets of revised plans and calculations, along with a written response to each of the noted items indicating action taken. Other comment references may be derived from additional codes and standards adopted by The City of Tucson. All features have been checked only to the extent allowed by the submittals provided for review. All portions of this project are assumed to meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval. 1. Provide calculations for the size of the expansion tank for the water heater and show how the specified expansion tank is to be supported. Reference: Section 607.3, IPC 2012. 3. The developed length of the hot water supply piping appears to be greater than fifty feet; provide a method for maintaining the temperature of the hot water supply system. Reference: Section 607.2, IPC 2012. 4. Appliances (e.g. soda dispensers, ice makers, etc) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Section 608.13.1, IPC require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection (e.g. each beverage dispenser requires the use of a backflow preventer that is listed to ASSE 1022). Reference: Sections 608.1 and 608.3, IPC 2012. 5. Hand sinks in the kitchen are allowed to connect to the sanitary waste system instead of the grease waste system only if each sink has a sign posted above it stating, "HANDWASH SINK ONLY! NO FOOD PREPARATION OR DISHWASHING ALLOWED." Reference: Section 1003.3, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson. 6. The specified hydromechanical grease interceptor (Zurn GT2700-50) requires the installation of an external flow control device. Show how this device is to be installed below the floor level and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Reference: Sections 303.2 and 1003.3.4.2, IPC 2012. 7. Provide heating and cooling load calculations that justify the total capacity of the heating and cooling equipment specified for the project. Provide structural calculations and details to demonstrate that the installation of the new rooftop unit will not adversely affect the structural integrity of the roof. Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2012. 5. A note on sheet AM-1 indicates that no filters are to be located in the rooftop units but are instead to be located in return air grilles. Show that this arrangement of the filters is in accordance with the conditions of the equipment listing and the manufacturer's installation requirements. Reference: Section 304.1, IMC 2012. 6. Revise the sequence of operation for the restroom exhaust fans so that all of the air supplied to the restrooms will be exhausted during occupied hours even if the restroom lights have been turned off. Reference: Section 403.2.1 (4), IMC 2012. 7. Provide general room exhaust for any cooking appliance that does not require the installation of a Type II hood (e.g. 10 food warmers, 1 toaster, and 4 microwave ovens). The minimum exhaust rate shall be 0.70 CFM per square foot, using a minimum area of 100 square feet for each individual appliance. Reference: Section 507.2.2, IMC 2012. |
