The purpose of this review is to verify compliance to the 2012 International Residential Code with local amendments. In order to facilitate a shorter back check time, we request that you please provide two complete sets of revised plans and calculations, along with a written response to each of the noted items indicating action taken. Other comment references may be derived from additional codes and standards adopted by The City of Tucson. All features have been checked only to the extent allowed by the submittals provided for review. All portions of this project are assumed to meet other departmental requirements, conditions, and concerns before permit approval. 1. Reference numbers provided on sheet 2 do not match the applicable details. Please reconcile the numbering system to all section details. 2. Specify safety glazing in hazardous locations within 24" of the new exterior door in the laundry room, R308.4. 3. Specify water conservation requirements: Water closets = 1.6 gallons per flush, Sinks = 2.2 gpm, Showerheads = 2.5 gpm, P2903.2. 4. Specify the size of the water meter, the lowest available working pressure, the maximum design length for the water supply system and the diameter of the water supply line from the meter to the service entrance, P2903.7. The Tucson Water policy adopted 7/13/12 limits the maximum demand for a 5/8" water meter to 15 GPM; Reference Tables P2903.6 and P2903.6 (1), IRC 2012. A ¾" water meter will be required for the proposed design. 5. Please provide gas piping sized for the proposed demand, G2413.1, Table G2413.4 (1). A minimum 1" supply will be required from the meter and a minimum ¾" line will be required to supply the water heater and dryer at the specified distance. 6. Show receptacle outlets at each kitchen counter space wider than 12" so that no point along the wall line is more than 24" from a receptacle outlet, E3901.4.1. 7. Island or peninsula counter tops with a long dimension of 24" and a short dimension of 12" or greater shall have at least one receptacle, E3901.4.2/3. 8. Kitchens require two or more 2O-amp small appliance circuits to serve countertop receptacles. Such circuits shall be GFCI protected and shall not serve other rooms (except breakfast areas, pantries, etc.), E3901.3. Note: kitchen counter receptacles may not share the bathroom circuit. 9. Specify faceplate grounding per E4001.11.1. 10. Specify tamper resistant receptacles per E4002.14. 11. Protect extended branch circuits with combination type arc-fault circuit interrupters, or an AFCI type receptacle at the first outlet on the branch circuit, E3902.13.
