| 08/31/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. Section 604.1, IPC 2012 allows water distribution systems to be designed using accepted engineering methods. Provide the source of the method used to determine the water demand and provide calculations showing how the water supply piping has been sized. 2. Per Watts, the manufacturer of the temperature mixing valve shown in detail 2/P-1.3, model 1170-M2 is not listed to ASSE Standard 1070 and, "They are not designed to compensate for system pressure fluctuations and should not be used where ASSE standard 1016, 1069 or 1070 devices are required". Reference: Sections 303.2 and 416.5, IPC 2012. 3. Provide tempered water for the lavatories and public hand-washing sinks in restrooms using approved devices conforming to ASSE 1070. Reference: Sections 416.5 and 607.1.2, IPC 2012. 4. The Delta faucet specified for the lavatories is not a metering faucet (it is also a discontinued model), provide automatic faucets for the lavatories, dispensing a maximum of 0.25 gallons per metering cycle. Each lavatory faucet shall provide a minimum flow period of 10-seconds. Reference: Section 416.6, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson and Section 606.4, ICC/ANSI A117.1-03. 5. Provide an approved vacuum relief valve for the scheduled bottom-fed water heater which is located above the fixture outlets. Reference: Section 504.2, IPC 2012. 6. Indirect waste receptors shall have ready access (see Detail 3/P-1.1). Reference: Section 802.3, IPC 2012. 7. The size of the roof drainage pipes shall not decrease in the direction of flow. Reference: Section 1101.5, IPC 2012. 8. Provide roof drainage and hydraulic scupper size calculations based on the 100-year hourly rainfall rate for Tucson, 3" per hour. Include the effect of any vertical walls that can divert rainfall onto the roof. Reference: Sections 1106.1, 1106.4, and 1108.3, IPC 2012. 9. Provide secondary (overflow) roof drainage for the prefabricated canopy or provide calculations to show that the canopy is capable of supporting all of the retained rain water. Reference: Sections 1101, 1106 and 1108, IPC 2012, and Sections 1611.1 and 1611.3, IBC 2012. 10. Revise the gas pipe sizes based on the demand and developed pipe length for each appliance. Reference: Sections 402.1 and 402.3, IFGC 2012. (Note: based on the dimensions shown in detail 2/P-1.2, the total developed pipe length is just over 150 feet, not 140 feet.) |

| 08/31/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. Footnote (c) of the envelope assembly section of the COMcheck Envelope Compliance Certificate calls for supporting documentation of the fenestration performance. Provide documentation (e.g. a bid report from a window manufacturer) to show the fenestration components will provide the performance shown in the COMcheck analysis. For site assembled commercial products, the NFRC component modeling approach program enables commercial window manufacturers to produce bid reports to prove energy performance prior to being awarded a job and provide finalized label certificates once the product has been installed. Fenestration performance reports based on AAMA 507 are based on energy simulations only (no actual testing) and are not acceptable. 2. Condensate drains shall be terminated at an approved disposal location (i.e. termination over the finished roof is not approved). Reference: Section 307.2.1, IMC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson. 3. Revise the sequence of operation for the restroom exhaust fans so that all of the air supplied to the restrooms will be exhausted (i.e. supply air is delivered to the restrooms continuously therefore the exhaust fans shall operate continuously during the operating hours for the store). Reference: Section 403.2.1 (4), IMC 2012. 4. The City of Tucson has adopted the 2012 IMC as the approved method for calculating ventilation requirements. Revise the ventilation calculations per Sections 403.3 and 403.3.2.3, IMC 2012. |
