This letter reflects comments to be addressed. The purpose of this review is to verify compliance to the 2012 International Building Code and local amendments. Plans must be of sufficient clarity to indicate the location, nature and extent of the work proposed, 102.2.1. In order to facilitate a shorter back check time, we request that you please provide two complete sets of revised plans and calculations, along with a written response to each of the noted items indicating action taken. Other comment references may be derived from additional codes and standards adopted by The City of Tucson. All features have been checked only to the extent allowed by the submittals provided for review. All portions of this project are assumed to meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval.

Sheet T1.1
1. Please identify the route of the accessible means of egress from the accessible parking spaces into the building, 3411.7.
2. Specify the type and quantity of hazardous materials (if any) that is intended to be stored in the building and sold in the home goods area, Table 414.2.5(1).

Sheet A1.1
3. Separate plumbing facilities are required for each sex. Please specify the location and provide a complete layout of the second rest room, 2902.2.
4. Clarify the location and height of the grab bars proposed around the mop sink area.
5. Please specify the maximum height of the shelves and racking. Note: racking that exceeds 6 feet in height will require anchoring details.
6. Clarify the proposed meat cutting equipment indicated near the tobacco area.
7. Specify the location of portable fire extinguishers, 906.1.

Sheet PE1.1
8. Please provide exit signage for the egress path through the prep area, 1011.1.

08/27/2015 ROBERT SHERRY WATER REVIEW Reqs Change 1. Verify the size of the existing water meter serving this address and provide the serial number for the meter.
2. Tucson Water uses Tables E103.3 (2) and E103.3 (3), IPC 2012 to determine the minimum required size of the water meter (see the instructions in Section E102, IPC 2012). Calculate the demand that the meter will serve.
08/27/2015 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1. Provide the minimum plumbing facilities required by Table 2902.1 and Section 2902.2, IBC 2012, for mercantile occupancy.
2. Provide material standards for all plumbing fixtures being provided by others. All fixtures shall be listed by a third-party certification agency (e.g. UL, IAPMO, ETL, NSF, etc) as complying with the referenced standards. Reference: Sections 303.4 and 402, IPC 2012.
3. Verify the actual static lift from the water meter to the highest fixture; revise the water distribution system design criteria as required. Reference: Section 604.1, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson.
4. Section 604.1, IPC 2012 allows water distribution systems to be designed using accepted engineering methods. Provide the source of the method used to determine the water demand and size the water distribution system. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.
5. Revise the design criteria for determining the pipe sizes so that the water velocities will be less than 8 FPS for copper as recommended by the pipe manufacturer. Reference: Section 303.2, IPC 2012.
6. Show the location and size of the water meter, the reduced pressure backflow preventer, and the water service pipe for the building. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.
7. Show how the temperature of the tempered water supply to the relocated public lavatory is to be controlled. Reference: Section 607.1, IPC 2012 and Section C404.3, IECC 2012.
8. Verify the developed length of the hot water supply piping. If it is greater than fifty feet; provide a method for maintaining the temperature of the hot water supply system. Reference: Section 607.2, IPC 2012.
9. Coordinate the waste and vent isometric with the plumbing plan. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.
10. Provide cleanouts sized for the nominal size of pipes that they serve up to 4-inches; cleanouts shall open to allow cleaning in the direction of flow. Reference: Sections 708.5 and 708.7, IPC 2012.
11. Revise General Note #3 to indicate that an indirect drain is required. Reference: Section 802, IPC 2012.
12. Provide separate indirect waste pipes for each compartment of the 3-compartment sink to protect against cross-contamination or fouling. (Note that the floor sink will have to discharge to a grease interceptor.) Reference: Sections 801.2 and 802.1.8, IPC 2012.
13. Provide indirect waste piping for the prep sink. Reference: Section 802.1, IPC 2012.
14. Indirect waste piping that has a developed length greater than 30-inches (30") when measured horizontally or greater than 54-inches (54") in total developed length shall be trapped. Exception: indirect waste piping conveying only clear-water waste (e.g. effluent from a sanitizing compartment) does not require a trap. Reference: Section 802.2, IPC 2012.
15. Clarify how the 3/4" drain line located in the slab can have a "slope of 1/8" in 12 to floor sink" and still enter the floor sink above the floor. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.
16. Verify that the Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department will allow the drains from the janitor's sink and the prep sink to bypass the grease interceptor. Reference: Section 1003.3, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson.
17. Hand sinks in the kitchen are allowed to connect to the sanitary waste system instead of the grease waste system only if each sink has a sign posted above it stating, "HANDWASH SINK ONLY! NO FOOD PREPARATION OR DISHWASHING ALLOWED." Reference: Section 1003.3, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson.
18. Show how the external flow control device for the specified hydromechanical grease interceptor is to be installed. Reference: Sections 303.2 and 1003.3.4.2, IPC 2012.
