07/27/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. Verify that the automatic faucets specified for the lavatories will be set to dispense a maximum of 0.25 gallons per metering cycle and will operate for a minimum time of 10-seconds. Reference: Section 416.6, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson and Section 606.4, ICC/ANSI A117.1-03. 2. Verify that the pipe sizes called out will not result in water velocities greater than that recommended by the pipe manufacturer (e.g. limit the water velocity to less than 8 FPS for copper, PEX, or CPVC piping). At a design flow rate of 21 GPM, a 1" Type L copper pipe has a flow velocity of 8.2 FPS. Reference: Section 604.3, IPC 2012. 3. Provide a full-open valve for the water service at the building entrance. Reference: Section 606.1(2), IPC 2012. 4. Provide tempered water with a maximum temperature of 110 degrees Fahrenheit for the restroom lavatories using approved devices conforming to ASSE 1070. (The scheduled thermostatic mixing valve is listed per ASSE 1016.) Reference: Sections 416.5 and 607.1.2, IPC 2012. 5. The developed length of the hot water supply piping appears to be greater than fifty feet; provide a method for maintaining the temperature of the hot water supply system. Reference: Section 607.2, IPC 2012. 6. At a minimum, beverage dispensers require the use of a backflow preventer that is listed to ASSE 1022; a Watts model 9D appears to be listed per ASSE 1012, not ASSE 1022 or ASSE 1024. Note that the water riser diagram calls for an "RPZ" to be used for the soda and tea dispensers as well as the carbonator; an RPZ is listed per ASSE 1013 and is acceptable in lieu of an ASSE 1022-listed dual check valve. Reference: Section 608.16.10, IPC 2012. 7. Provide cleanouts for all horizontal drains (i.e. a branch that receives the flow of two or more fixture drains); the cleanouts shall be sized per Section 708.7, IPC 2012 and shall open to allow cleaning in the direction of flow. Reference: Sections 708.3.1 and 708.5, IPC 2012. 8. Verify that all of the vents (except for vents serving interceptors located outdoors) rise vertically to at least 6" above the flood rims of the fixtures they protect prior to running horizontally. Reference: Section 905.4, IPC 2012. 9. Provide sizing calculations for the gravity grease interceptor using the method shown in Section 1003.3, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson. 10. Verify the size of the gas service to the hot plate. If the developed pipe length from the meter to the hot plate is 126 feet and the pipe has been sized using Table 402.4 (2), IFGC 2012, a 1" pipe is required. Reference: Section 402.3, IFGC 2012. 11. Provide a shut off valve upstream of the sediment trap serving the water heaters. Reference: Section 408.4, IFGC 2012. 12. Provide sediment traps for the gas service to the rooftop AC units. Reference: Section 408.4, IFGC 2012. |
07/27/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | WATER | REVIEW | Reqs Change | Provide the size (and serial number if the meter is existing) of the water meter serving this suite, the size of the backflow preventer associated with the water meter, and the total water demand served by the water meter. Note that the reduced pressure zone backflow prevention assembly associated with the water meter is located in an area that is accessible to Tucson Water (i.e. outside, near the water meter). Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. |

07/28/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. Revise the Mechanical Compliance Certificate to correct the cooling capacity of the three rooftop units and the heating capacity of units RTU-2 and RTU-3; the COMcheck capacities are ten times greater than those shown on the RTU schedule. 2. Provide heating and cooling load calculations that justify the capacities of the heating and cooling equipment specified for the project. Reference: Sections C403.2.1 and C403.2.2, IECC 2012, and Section 312.1, IMC 2012. 3. Show that each rooftop unit has a thermostatic control that provides for off-hour and set-back control, automatic shutdown and start-up control and, if the control does not require manual changeover from the heating and cooling modes, restricts set point overlap. Reference: Section C403.2.4, IECC 2012. 4. Provide structural details to show how the Type I hood is to be connected to the building structure. Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2012. 5. Provide calculations demonstrating adequate ventilation using the current code. Reference: Section 403.2, IMC 2012. 6. Revise the sequence of operation for the restroom exhaust fans so that all of the air supplied to the restrooms will be exhausted (i.e. all supply air into the restrooms shall be exhausted during occupied hours even if the restroom lights have been turned off). Reference: Section 403.2.1 (4), IMC 2012. |
