| 07/02/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. Provide water supply isometrics and waste and vent isometrics. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. 2. The automatic lavatory faucets shall provide a minimum flow period of 10-seconds. Reference: Section 606.4, ICC/ANSI A117.1-03. 3. Provide a direct connection to the building drainage system for all plumbing fixtures except as allowed by Chapter 8, IPC 2012 (e.g. hand sinks and other sinks not conforming to Sections 802.1.1 or 802.1.8, IPC 2012). Reference: Section 301.3, IPC 2012. 4. Watts does not include a model 9B backflow preventer in their on-line catalog - do you mean to use a Watts model 9BD? 5. The specified backflow prevention device, Watts model 9BD (for the tea maker machines), is not listed for ASSE 1022 as required for coffee machines or non-carbonated beverage dispensers. Reference: Section 608.16.10, IPC 2012. 6. Verify that the discharge from the ware washers (kitchen equipment numbers 1-110 and 3-038) will be 140 degrees Fahrenheit or less. Reference: Section701.7, IPC 2012. 7. An approved 2-way cleanout fitting is a single fitting, not a field-assembled group of individual fittings as shown in detail 11/P-701. Reference: Sections 708.3.5 and 708.5, IPC 2012. 8. Indirect waste receptors shall not be installed in a closet or cupboard, or unventilated space but shall be installed with ready access. Reference: Section 802.3, IPC 2012. 9. Verify that all of the vents (except for vents serving interceptors located outdoors) rise vertically to at least 6" above the flood rims of the fixtures they protect prior to running horizontally. Reference: Section 905.4, IPC 2012. 10. Correct the sizing calculations for the 2,500-gallon gravity grease interceptor serving the main kitchen. Contact Tom Tomchak of the Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (520-740-6217) to discuss the ultimate size of the grease interceptors. Reference: Section 1003.3, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson. 11. Provide a vent downstream of each of the gravity grease separators and the lint interceptor to protect the seals for the separators. The vent for GT-1 on the west side of the building is not located downstream of the interceptor. Reference: Section 1003.9, IPC 2012. 12. Provide the dimensions of the overflow scuppers and the hydraulic calculations used to determine the size of the scuppers. Reference: Sections 1106.1, 1106.4, and 1108.3, IPC 2012 and Sections 1611.1 and 1611.3, IBC 2012. 13. Coordinate the roof drain and overflow drain piping that begin near column E.9-8. On sheet P-203A the roof drain runs south before dropping down and the overflow drain runs north before dropping down. On sheet P-502 the positions of the roof drain and the overflow drain are reversed, both drain pipes run south, and then appear to be combined on the vertical drop. Primary and secondary roof drain pipes shall not be combined. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012 and Section 1108.2, IPC 2012. 14. Revise the 2-PSIG natural gas schematic (P-501) to show all of the loads (e.g. include the piping to the rooftop units) and the developed lengths of the piping from each load to the meter. Provide gas pipe sizing calculations demonstrating conformance to Section 402.1 and 402.3, IFGC 2012. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. 15. Each gas-fired appliance appears to have a pressure regulator; provide the specification for the regulator and, if the regulator requires a vent, show the route and termination of each vent. Reference: Section 410.3, IFGC 2012. |
| 07/06/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. In the COMcheck Envelope Compliance Certificate, the high efficiency HVAC option was selected as the additional efficiency package requirement to comply with Section C406, IECC 2012. In the Interior Lighting and Mechanical Compliance Certificates, however, reduced indoor lighting power option is noted as the way to comply with the additional efficiency package requirement. Coordinate the approach to be used to comply with Section C406, IECC 2012. 2. Revise the energy code analysis for the building envelope, coordinating the building components used in the analysis with those shown on the drawing (e.g. include the doors and the multiple window types). Provide NFRC fenestration product ratings for the U-factor and the SHGC values on COMcheck or use the appropriate default U-factor and SHGC values from Tables C303.1.3 (1), C303.1.3 (2) and C303.1.3.(3), IECC 2012. Reference: Section C303.1 and C303.1.3, IECC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson. 3. The NFRC certification numbers (CPD#) have not been included in this submittal. Factory-manufactured windows are required to have certificates attesting to their compliance to NFRC Standards 100 and 200 and can be provided by the manufacturer or found at www.nfrc.org. For site assembled commercial products, the NFRC component modeling approach program enables commercial window manufacturers to produce bid reports to prove energy performance prior to being awarded a job and provide finalized label certificates once the product has been installed. Fenestration performance reports based on AAMA 507 are based on energy simulations only (no actual testing) and are not acceptable. 4. Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type I hoods are supported from the building structure in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2012 (the hood hanging weight plus the weight of personnel working in or on the hood). Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2012. 5. Provide heating and cooling load calculations that justify the capacities of the heating and cooling equipment specified for the project. Reference: Sections C403.2.1 and C403.2.2, IECC 2012, and Section 312.1, IMC 2012. 6. Provide calculations to show that the ventilation system is sized in accordance with Section 403.3, IMC 2012. 7. Verify that the proposed Type I hood is equipped to automatically start the hood exhaust fan when cooking operations commence. Reference: Section 507.2.1.1, IMC 2012. 8. Provide general room exhaust for any cooking appliance that does not require the installation of a Type II hood. The minimum exhaust rate shall be 0.70 CFM per square foot, using a minimum area of 100 square feet for each individual appliance. Reference: Section 507.2.2, IMC 2012. 9. Show that the latent and sensible loads from the ware washer, 3-038, are included in the HVAC design. Reference: Section 507.2.2, IMC 2012. 10. Show that adequate make up air is being provided for the kitchen exhaust hoods and the ware washer, 1-110. Reference: Section 508.1 IMC 2012. 11. Condensate from AC-99 shall not be connected to the pool water make up system. If the condensate is to be introduced into the pool, it may be terminated into a pool skimmer with the permission of the Pima County Health Department. Reference: Sections 314.2.1 and 608.1, IPC 2012. 12. The sequence of operation for the split system heat pumps allows the indoor fan to be cycled when the thermostat is in the "auto" position. Similarly, the rooftop units RTU-1, RTU-2, RTU-3, RTU-4, and RTU-5 are not scheduled for continuous operation during occupied hours. How will this allow continuous ventilation? Reference: Section 403.3, IMC 2012. 13. Revise the minimum clearance between a grease duct and its fire-rated enclosure shaft from 3" to 6" (see detail 3/M-502). Reference: Section 506.3.11.1 14. Clarify the locations and types of fire and fire/smoke dampers on the mechanical floor plans - the symbols used do not appear on the ductwork legend and some of the symbols are obscured by the partition patterns. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. 15. Revise the ductwork legend to include the partition symbols used on the mechanical floor plans. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. 16. Clarify the reason for not utilizing fire dampers in the transfer ducts penetrating rated partitions when the associated ducted HVAC system is shown with fire dampers where the duct penetrates the same partitions (e.g. AC-2, AC-9, AC-11, and AC-19). Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. |
