| 05/11/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. The plumbing notes on sheet M-2 indicate that the plumbing design has been done per the 2012 International Plumbing Code. Revise the references to the 2006 UPC on the drawing to show the applicable sections of the 2012 IPC. Reference: Section 101.4, IBC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson. 2. Provide a site plumbing plan showing the size and slope of the building sewer and the proposed location of the yard hydrant (this information is not shown on the civil drawings). Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. 3. Provide automatic faucets for the lavatories, dispensing a maximum of 0.25 gallons per metering cycle. Reference: Section 416.6, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson. 4. Provide tempered water for the lavatories using approved devices conforming to ASSE 1070. Reference: Sections 416.5 and 607.1.2, IPC 2012. 5. Provide calculations showing how the water supply piping has been sized. Reference: Sections 604.1 and 604.3, IPC 2012. 6. Specify the expansion tank to be used with the proposed water heater. Reference: Section 607.3, IPC 2012. 7. If the specified water heater is not supplied with integral heat traps, provide heat traps on the supply and discharge piping. Reference: Section C404.4, IECC 2012. 8. Provide a sign for the freeze-proof yard hydrant located at grade stating "Caution, Nonpotable water, Do Not Drink." Reference: Section 608.7, IPC 2012. 9. The freeze-proof yard hydrant located on the roof does not have a below-grade stop-and-waste valve and thus may not require the installation of backflow preventer; no backflow preventer is shown on sheet M-2 but a note calls for the pipe supplying the hydrant to be labeled as "non-potable." Resolve the disparity between the installation shown and the "non-potable" note. Reference: Section 608.7, IPC 2012. 10. Provide complete roof drainage calculations and plans. Reference: Sections 1101, 1106 and 1108, IPC 2012. Clarify the design for the building storm drain shown on sheets A-6 and M-1; the civil plans do not indicate the presence of a storm sewer system but call for three splash blocks located along the Northwest wall of the building. If horizontal rainwater piping is to be used, indicate the minimum slope of the pipe. Reference: Section 1101.2, IPC 2012. |
| 05/11/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. The 2012 International Energy Compliance Code is the relevant energy code for this project, correct note 3 of the mechanical notes on sheet M-1. 2. Revise the energy code analysis for the building envelope, coordinating the building components used in the analysis with those shown on the drawing (i.e. use the wall construction shown on the drawings or change the drawings to match the COMcheck components) and provide the supporting documentation for the U-factors used in COMcheck. Reference: Section C303.1, IECC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson. 3. Provide NFRC fenestration product ratings for the U-factor and the SHGC values on COMcheck or use the appropriate default U-factor and SHGC values from Tables C303.1.3 (1), C303.1.3 (2) and C303.1.3.(3), IECC 2012. Reference: Section C303.1.3, IECC 2012. 4. Coordinate the HVAC system shown on the drawings (2 10-ton packaged heat pumps, EER = 11.0) with the system noted in COMcheck (2 10-ton DX units with gas heat, EER = 11.5). Reference: Section C303.1.3, IECC 2012. 5. Provide heating and cooling load calculations that justify the capacities of the heating and cooling equipment specified for the project. Reference: Sections C403.2.1 and C403.2.2, IECC 2012, and Section 312.1, IMC 2012. 6. Show that each rooftop unit has a thermostatic control that provides for off-hour and set-back control, automatic shutdown and start-up control and, if the control does not require manual changeover from the heating and cooling modes, restricts set point overlap. Reference: Section C403.2.4, IECC 2012. 7. Clarify how excess outside air relief from the building is to be accomplished (e.g. during economizer operation). Reference: Section C403.3.1.1.4, IECC 2012. |
| 05/11/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | WATER | REVIEW | Reqs Change | Reduced pressure backflow prevention assemblies are required to be installed in locations accessible to Tucson Water and are typically installed outside of the building, directly after the water meter. Provide the size of both the water meter and the backflow preventer.
