03/26/2015 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1. A reduced pressure backflow preventer, a pipe labeled "irrigation in" and another pipe labeled "irrigation out" are shown in room 110 on sheet P201: why are these items shown? [Initial comment: Clarify the presence of a reduced pressure backflow prevention assembly for the irrigation water service within the building; a 1"reduced pressure backflow prevention assembly is shown adjacent to the irrigation water meter on civil sheet C-150.]
2. Note to the Architect: An approved development plan is not to be used for construction of on-site utilities (e.g. water service to the building, building sewer, site lighting, or electrical service to the building). The construction of the on-site utilities may be included with the permit for constructing the building or as a separate permit. The civil utility plans are a necessary part of this building permit unless a separate permit is obtained. In either case, the site utilities shall be coordinated with the building plans. [Initial comment: Provide a vent downstream of the gravity grease separator to protect the seal for the grease separator (a vent is shown upstream of the grease interceptor on civil plan C-150). Reference: Section 1003.9, IPC 2012.]
03/27/2015 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1. Section C403.2.1 requires the heating and cooling loads to be determined using procedures based on ASHRAE Standard 183. Alternate methods are required to be submitted for evaluation based on the requirements of Section 104.11, IBC 2012. [Initial comment: Provide heating and cooling load calculations that justify the capacities of the heating and cooling equipment specified for the project. Reference: Sections C403.2.1 and C403.2.2, IECC 2012.]
2. The carbon dioxide storage tank contains 789 pounds of carbon dioxide and would be capable of releasing sufficient carbon dioxide gas into the building to exceed the accepted IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health) level. Section 5307.2, IFC 2012 requires the installation of continuous exhaust ventilation at a rate of 1 CFM per square foot of floor area over the storage area. Section 5307.5, IFC 2015 revises this requirement to allow the installation of an emergency alarm system in lieu of the continuous ventilation (Section 5307.5.2, IFC 2015). If you wish to use the system proposed on sheet M103, which includes a continuous alarm system combined with an emergency ventilation capability, contact Ken Brouillette at 520-837-7029 to discuss the possibility of an appeal. [Initial comment: Provide the quantity of carbon dioxide (cubic feet at NTP) that will be stored in the building. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. (Note that a separate permit is required for the installation of an alarm system.)]
