10/28/2014 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1. The 2012 International Mechanical Code and the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code, both with Local Amendments are the relevant code for this project: not the 2006 International Mechanical Code and not the International Residential Code.
2. Provide energy code compliance calculations for the building envelope; use the climate zone for Tucson. Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the building envelope. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation and the SHGC for the fenestration. Reference: Sections R103.2 and R401.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2012.
3. Provide NFRC fenestration product ratings for the U-factor on COMcheck or use the appropriate default U-factor from Tables R303.1.3 (1) or R303.1.3 (2), IECC 2012. Show the required U-factors for the vertical glazing on the drawings. Reference: Section R303.1.3, IEC 2012.
4. Show that the mechanical systems for the building comply with the current energy code (e.g. provide the COMcheck Mechanical Compliance Certificate).
5. Provide heating and cooling load calculations and equipment sizing calculations that justify the capacities of the heating and cooling equipment specified for the project (i.e. Manual J and Manual S). Reference: Section R403.6, IECC 2012.
6. Provide mechanical ventilation for the buildings per the International Mechanical Code 2012 (the City of Tucson did not adopt ASHRAE Standard 62.1 for ventilation calculations). Reference: Section R403.5, IECC 2012.
7. Label the fan coil units and their associated thermostats. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.
8. Clarify the HAC symbols used; supply and return devices typically do not have the same symbols and the flow arrows point in the direction of flow. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.
9. Provide structural details to show how the fan coil units are to be connected to the building structure. Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2012.
10. Provide maintenance access space for the equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions; show the access space requirements on the drawing. Reference: Sections 304.1 and 306.1, IMC 2012.
11. Show the size, routing, and termination of the condensate drains. Reference: Section 307.2.1, IMC 2012 as amended by the City of Tucson.

Provide an air balancing report prior to the final mechanical inspection to verify that the HVAC systems are capable of supplying and exhausting at least the minimum air flow rates called for in the design drawings. The balancing shall be performed in accordance with the procedural standards of either the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) or the Associated Air Balance Council (AABC). Reference: Section 403.7, IMC 2012.
14. Provide signage indicating the total equivalent length of the concealed dryer exhaust duct. Reference: Section 504.6.5, IMC 2012.
