10/17/2014 ERIC NEWCOMB BUILDING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1. PREVIOUS COMMENT 42; SHEETS A-810-143 THROUGH A-817-150: THE LETTERING DOES NOT MEET THE CITY OF TUCSON REQUIREMENT OF A MINIMUM HEIGHT OF 3/32" (UPPER AND LOWER CASE). REVISE.
2. PREVIOUS COMMENT 47; SHEET S103-51 (DETAIL T48); STRUCTURAL CALCULATIONS (ADDED SHEET FOR FLAG POLE DESIGN): THE CALCULATIONS INDICATE A 6'-0" DEEP FOUNDATION, WHILE THE DETAIL INDICATES A 4'-4" DEEP FOUNDATION. VERIFY.
3. PREVIOUS COMMENT 60: THE REVISED ROOF FRAME CALCULATION PLAN STILL INDICATES BEAM HRB3 (SPANS ACROSS CORRIDOR 272) AS A B15 (2-1000S200-68 BOX BEAM), WHILE THE CALCULATION ON SHEET 56 INDICATES A W10X12. CLARIFY (THE CALCULATION PLAN SHOULD DESIGNATE THIS BEAM AS HRB2).
4. GENERAL: PROVIDE WRITTEN RESPONSES TO ALL REVIEW COMMENTS.
10/22/2014 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1. [Hold until verified: Verify that the Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department for Pima County will allow water from an elevator sump to be introduced into the sanitary waste system. Reference: Section 701.5, IPC 2012; Contact the Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department, at 520-724-6200 for further information.]
2. The specified automatic faucets for L-2 and L-3 have an automatic shut-off feature that is factory-set to 45-seconds; provide for this feature to be reset to conform to the 0.25 gallons per cycle requirement. [Initial comment: Provide automatic faucets for the public lavatories (i.e. L-2, L-3), dispensing a maximum of 0.25 gallons per metering cycle. Reference: Section 416.6, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson.]
3. The specifications for the public lavatories L-2 and L-3 both allude to the requirement for a mixing valve but neither specifies that the mixing valve must conform to ASSE Standard 1070. [Initial comment: Provide tempered water for the lavatories in public restrooms using approved devices conforming to ASSE 1070. Reference: Sections 416.5 and 607.1.2, IPC 2012.]
4. The detail still shows the adjustable flow control valve located on the 160-degree hot water supply pipe, not the hot water return pipe. [Initial comment: Verify the location of the adjustable flow control valve in the 160 degree hot water supply pipe (keynote 11, detail 2/P-410). Reference: Section 607.2, IPC 2012.]
5. With regard to detail 7/P-411, horizontal branches shall connect no closer than ten diameters downstream of the bases of stacks. [Initial comment: Horizontal branches shall connect no closer than ten diameters downstream of the bases of stacks. Reference: Section 704.3, IPC 2012.]
6. .Three floor sinks in detail 1/P-410 are still shown with vents running horizontally below the flood rims of the floor sinks, including one 3" vent bellow the floor that is about 9-feet long. [Initial comment: Verify that all of the vents (except for vents serving interceptors located outdoors) rise vertically to at least 6" above the flood rims of the fixtures they protect prior to running horizontally (e.g. see detail 1/P-410). Reference: Section 905.4, IPC 2012.]
7. .Revise the gas riser diagram to reflect the piping arrangement in the area of the dryers and the future iron as shown on the plumbing plans (P-311). Remove the pressure regulator located next to node B on the gas riser diagram to coordinate with the plumbing plans. Clarify what is occurring at node P; 72 CFH of gas seems to disappear at that point. What is the estimated load for the future iron press? [Initial comment: Revise the natural gas schematic to coordinate with the natural gas piping plan (e.g. where does RTU-18 show on the plans; where do the kitchen loads, RTU-5, and the future iron press). Show all of the loads (e.g. the dryers and the kitchen loads), developed lengths of the piping, the pipe sizes, and the minimum pressure at the inlet to the pressure reducing valves. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012 and Section 402.1, IFGC 2012.]
8. Provide the sizes for the low-pressure gas piping for the kitchen appliances. [Initial comment: Provide the sizes, loads and developed lengths of the low pressure natural gas piping to each gas-fired appliance. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012 and Section 402.1, IFGC 2012.]
9. New comment: The architectural plans call for the installation of a pedicure chair but the plumbing design does not show how it is to be installed (e.g. backflow protection for the water supplies, method of draining, etc.) or that the appliance is to be listed by a recognized testing and listing agency as complying with ASME/ANSI A112.19.7M, Whirlpool Bathtub Appliances.
10/23/2014 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1. The heating and cooling load calculations were not included in this submittal. [Initial comment: Provide heating and cooling load calculations that justify the capacities of the heating and cooling equipment specified for the project. Use the exterior design conditions shown in Section 302.2, IECC 2012, as modified by the City of Tucson. Reference: Sections C403.2.1 and C403.2.2, IECC 2012.]
2. The structural calculations for the hood support were not included in this submittal. [Initial comment: Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type I hood is supported from the building structure in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2012 (the hood hanging weight plus the weight of personnel working in or on the hood). Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2012.]
3. The finish schedule indicates that FRP panels are to be used for all of the walls in the kitchen; FRP is combustible. [Initial comment: Show that the hood installation complies with Section 507.9, IMC 2012 with regard to a smooth, cleanable, non-absorbent, and non-combustible material installed between the hood and the wall, and extending 18" beyond the hood.]
