This letter reflects comments to be addressed. The purpose of this review is to verify compliance to the 2012 International Residential Code with local amendments. In order to facilitate a shorter back check time, we request that you please provide two complete sets of revised plans and calculations, along with a written response to each of the noted items indicating action taken. Other comment references may be derived from additional codes and standards adopted by The City of Tucson. All features have been checked only to the extent allowed by the submittals provided for review. All portions of this project are assumed to meet other departmental requirements, conditions, and concerns before permit approval.

FOUNDATION PLAN:
1. Provide a floor or landing outside exterior doors, R311.3.
2.
SECTIONS - DETAILS:
3. Clarify the roof framing design in regards to attic ventilation and energy efficiency. Specify the insulation material that will provide R-38 in the 9.25 inch cavity and still allow ventilation between the sheathing insulation as indicated by the vented blocking shown above the wall plate.
4. Ceiling gypsum board must be either 5/8" or ½" sag resistant when applied to ceilings framed at 24" o/c, IRC table R702.3.5 footnote d.

MECHANICAL PLAN:
5. Provide Manual J/S calculations for the forced air units in accordance with M1401.3, M1601.1.

ELECTRICAL PLAN:
6. Provide electrical load calculations for determining the service panel size and feeder load calculations for sub-panels (40% demand factor may not be applied), E3704.3, E3602.2.
7. Clarify the grounding electrode design that incorporates ¼" wires as specified on riser diagram, E3608.
8. Show locations of smoke detectors (every sleeping room and hallways leading to). All smoke detectors must be interconnected with a power source from the building wiring, and shall be equipped with battery backup, R314.
9. Specify faceplate grounding per E4001.11.1.
10. Specify tamper resistant receptacles per E4002.14.

OUTDOOR LIGHTING CODE
11. a Show compliance with City of Tucson Outdoor Lighting Code with an approved lighting calculation in accordance with OLC 3.1.2. Include all exterior fixtures on the property in the calculations. Model plans should specify a minimum lot size for the proposed exterior lighting.
12. Provide cut sheets for all FCO fixtures showing the angle of cutoff, light emissions and fixture wattage. All other fixtures are assumed to be unshielded (non-FCO style) 104.2.

INTERNATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE:
13. Specify a "U" factor and solar heat gain coefficient of the windows and doors that meets or exceeds the requirements of N1102.1. The simplified prescribed energy value for climate zone 2B glazing is U=0.40 and skylights is U=0.65, the default SHGC is 0.25.
