The purpose of this review is to verify compliance to the 2012 International Residential Code with local amendments. In order to facilitate a shorter back check time, we request that you please provide two complete sets of revised plans and calculations, along with a written response to each of the noted items indicating action taken. Other comment references may be derived from additional codes and standards adopted by The City of Tucson. All features have been checked only to the extent allowed by the submittals provided for review. All portions of this project are assumed to meet other departmental requirements, conditions, and concerns before permit approval. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Details on sheet 3 are not entirely legible. Darken lines as necessary. STRUCTURAL / FRAMING PLAN: 2. Ridge boards shall not be less in depth than the cut end of the rafter. Provide a minium 2x8 ridge board for 2x6 rafters, R802.3. SECTIONS - DETAILS: 3. Include exterior wall furr-out on section details. 4. Include wall and ceiling insulation on section details. MECHANICAL PLAN: 5. The UMC (Uniform Mechanical Code) is not an adopted standard. Correct references on sheet 4 to the 2012 IRC. ELECTRICAL PLAN: 6. Exterior receptacle may not share the small appliance circuit, E3901.3. 7. Correct outdated electrical code references. 8. Specify faceplate grounding per E4001.11.1. 9. Specify tamper resistant receptacles per E4002.14. INTERNATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE: 10. Remove references to the 'Model Energy Code' and/or MEC as this code has been replaced with the International Energy Conservation Code. Energy Code Values would be a more appropriate title for the tables provided. 11. Specify the "R" value of the insulation, as well as the "U" factor and the solar heat gain coefficient of the windows and doors. Tucson is in climate zone 2B. The simplified prescribed energy values for glazing and skylights is U=0.40, SHGC=0.25, ceiling R=38 and walls R=13. Mass wall requirement is R=4 when 50% of insulation is exterior and R=6 when applied interior, N1102.1.
