07/29/2014 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. The water isometrics show a 1" water supply to one of the flush valve water closets (WC-1) and 1-1/2" supplies to the other two flush valve water closets (WC-2). At a minimum design flow rate of 25 GPM for a siphonic, flush-valve water closet, a 1" Type L copper pipe has a flow velocity of 9.7 FPS. Revise the size of the supply to WC-1 to reduce the water velocity to less than 8 feet per second. Reference: Table 604.3, IPC 2012. [Initial comment: Provide plumbing plans for the new work, including water isometrics and waste and vent isometrics. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.] 2. Clarify the termination of the primary roof drain from the tower. [Initial comment: The modified tower is shown on sheet A1.3 with roof drains discharging to the main roof. Provide roof drainage calculations and plans for the new tower roof. Reference: Sections 1101, 1106 and 1108, IPC 2012.] 3. Sheet A2.2 has been revised to indicate that the rain gutter and rain water leaders exist but Sheet A5.0 still calls for a new rain gutter and rain water leaders; which is correct? In addition, the roof drawing on sheet A1.3 shows the main roof sloping down to the north towards the location of the rain gutter but roof drains are shown at the south end of the roof. Clarify the roof design; is there a ridge somewhere on the roof that is not shown? [Initial comment: Architectural sheets A2.2 and A5.0 indicate that a new rain gutter and two rain leaders are being added to the north side of the building. Provide roof drainage calculations and plans for the new gutter and rain leaders. Reference: Sections 1101 and 1106, IPC 2012.] |
