05/05/2014 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change Drinking fountains are required to comply with the requirements of ASME A112.19.1/CSA B45.2 or ASME A112.19.2/CSA B45.1; bottle water dispensers do not meet those requirements. Section 410.2, IPC 2012, states that no fewer than two drinking fountains shall be installed with one of the drinking fountains being accessible for people who use a wheelchair and one of the drinking fountains for standing persons (a single hi-low drinking fountain may be substituted for the two drinking fountains) With a total of 107 occupants in this space, at least two drinking fountains are required. The IPC limits the number of bottled water dispensers that may be substituted for drinking fountains to be no greater than 50% of the required number of drinking fountains (Section 410.3, IPC 2012). Revise the design to include the required number of drinking fountains and, if a bottled water dispenser is to be substituted for one of the drinking fountains, show how accessibility is to be assured (also, locating one bottled water dispenser in the Lactation room does not make it accessible to the general population). Provide listing information for the proposed "permanent water bottle system" and state how this system is to be installed.
