This letter reflects comments to be addressed. The purpose of this review is to verify compliance to the 2012 International Residential Code with local amendments. In order to facilitate a shorter back check time, we request that you please provide two complete sets of revised plans and calculations, along with a written response to each of the noted items indicating action taken. Other comment references may be derived from additional codes and standards adopted by The City of Tucson. All features have been checked only to the extent allowed by the submittals provided for review. All portions of this project are assumed to meet other departmental requirements, conditions, and concerns before permit approval.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Correct outdated code year specified and code references on sheets 3 and 8

FLOOR PLAN:
2. Clarify the drawing scale specified - 1/8" per foot indicated but ΒΌ" per foot actual.
3. Specify safety glazing in hazardous location in bathroom #2, R308.4.
4. Show the location of the attic access in a hallway or other readily accessible location with a minimum opening size 22"x30", R807. Locating the attic access in a garage would require a fire separation between the garage attic and the house attic.

STRUCTURAL / FRAMING PLAN:
5. Provide interior braced wall panels so that braced wall lines are spaced no more than 60 feet apart with braced wall panels within 10 feet of each end of each braced wall line, R403.1.6, R602.10.2.2.
6. Simpson hardware PAHD42 does not meet the minimum uplift resistance for alternate braced wall panels, Table 602.10.6.1.

ELEVATIONS:
7. Provide an attic space ventilation calculation and note the size and location of all attic vents needed to comply, R806.2.

PLUMBING PLAN:
8. The IRC and UPC plumbing codes are not interchangeable. Remove references to the UPC.
9. Provide an appliance schedule indicating all gas-fired appliances, M1302.1.

MECHANICAL PLAN:
10. Gas appliances require combustion air openings, M1701.1.
11. Show supply and return air ducts with a minimum R-8 insulation when located outside the thermal envelope, N1103.2.1.

ELECTRICAL PLAN:
12. Closet receptacles may not share the bathroom circuit, E3703.4, E3901.6.
13. GFCI protection required in garages including ceiling receptacles, E3902.
14. All outlets specified in section E3902.12 shall be protected with combination-type arc-fault breakers (not just bedroom outlets).
15. Show bond to gas piping on the electrical riser diagram E3607/8.
16. Specify faceplate grounding per E4001.11.1.
17. Specify tamper resistant receptacles per E4002.14.

OUTDOOR LIGHTING CODE
18. Provide cut sheets for all FCO fixtures showing the angle of cutoff, light emissions and fixture wattage. All other fixtures are assumed to be unshielded (non-FCO style) 104.2.

INTERNATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE:
19. The simplified prescribed energy value for climate zone 2B glazing includes a maximum U-factor of 0.40, N1102.1.
20. The simplified prescribed energy value for climate zone 2B ceiling insulation is a minimum R-factor of 38, N1102.1.
