03/18/2014 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Provide tempered water for the lavatories in restrooms using approved devices conforming to ASSE 1070. The specified mixing valve by Lawler is not ASSE 1070 certified. Reference: Sections 416.5 and 607.1.2, IPC 2012.
2. Section 604.1, IPC 2012 allows water distribution systems to be designed using accepted engineering methods. Provide the source of the method used to determine the water demand (the total water demand, not just the cold water and the hot water demands) and size the water distribution system.
3. The developed length of the hot water supply piping appears to be greater than fifty feet from the water heater to the furthest hot water termination (a mixing valve); provide a method for maintaining the temperature of the hot water supply system. Reference: Section 607.2, IPC 2012.
4. Appliances (e.g. soda dispensers, ice makers, cheese melter, etc) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Section 608.13.1, IPC require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Reference: Sections 608.1 and 608.3, IPC 2012.
5. Clarify the purpose of installing a flow control device with a gravity grease interceptor. Reference: Sections 303.2 and 706.2, IPC 2012.
6. With reference to detail E/P2.0, a hub drain shall extend not less than 1" above the finished floor. Show how the floor around the hub drain is to be made impervious to water. Reference: Section 802.3.2, IPC 2012.
7. Verify that all of the vents (except for vents serving interceptors located outdoors) rise vertically to at least 6" above the flood rims of the fixtures they protect prior to running horizontally. Coordinate the plumbing plan with the waste and vent isometric. Reference: Section 905.4, IPC 2012.
8. Provide roof drainage and hydraulic scupper size calculations based on the 100-year hourly rainfall rate for Tucson, 3" per hour. Provide dimensions for the roof scuppers, overflow scuppers, and downspouts. Reference: Sections 1106.1, 1106.4, and 1108.3, IPC 2012.
03/18/2014 LEERAY HANLY ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1) Provide exterior lighting cut-sheets with sufficient data to determine compliance with the City of Tucson Outdoor Lighting code. Information to include lumen output, color temperature, and whether fixture is full cutoff.
Keep in mind that on pp ES1.0 and E1.0 you are indicating that all fixtures are full cut-off. To use the allowed lumen calculations on pp E1.0 this will be necessary or you may use an alternate method for total lumens as per the OLC.
03/18/2014 ROBERT SHERRY WATER REVIEW Denied 1. Provide a site drawing showing the size and route of the building water supply along with the location and size of the water meter (the water meter is not shown on the civil utility drawing, C-04). Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.
2. Reduced pressure backflow prevention assemblies are required to be installed in locations accessible to Tucson Water. Verify that the location of the proposed backflow preventer is acceptable to Tucson Water. Reference: Chapter XXVII, Article V, Section 27-72, the Tucson Code, http://cms3.tucsonaz.gov/sites/default/files/water/docs/backflow-ordinance.pdf
03/20/2014 LAITH ALSHAMI ENGINEERING REVIEW Denied Laith Alshami, Engineering and Floodplain Review, 03/24/2014

The project has been reviewed and it can not be approved at this time. It appears that the proposed site layout is different from what was previously approved on the Tentative Plat (S07-156). The approved Tentative Plat may need to be revised. Contact Patricia Gehlen at 837-4919 for additional information.

If you have any questions, I can be reached at 837-4933 or Laith.Alshami@tucsonaz.gov

03/25/2014 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Provide energy code compliance calculations for the building envelope and the HVAC systems (e.g. COMcheck); use the climate zone for Tucson. Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the building envelope and the HVAC systems. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation and the SHGC for the fenestration. Reference: Sections C103.2 and C401.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2012.
2. Show that each rooftop unit has a thermostatic control that provides for off-hour and set-back control, automatic shutdown and start-up control and, if the control does not require manual changeover from the heating and cooling modes, restricts set point overlap. Reference: Section C403.2.4, IECC 2012.
3. Provide heating and cooling load calculations that justify the capacities of the heating and cooling equipment specified for the project. Reference: Sections C403.2.1 and C403.2.2, IECC 2012.
4. Provide calculations demonstrating adequate ventilation using the current code. Reference: Section 403.2, IMC 2012.
5. Provide justification for not installing the split grill (C201) or the cheese melter (C250) under a Type I hood. Reference: Section 507.2.1, IMC 2012.
