04/23/2014 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | According to detail 6/A-8, the top of the water heater shelf will b 6'- 0" above the floor. The closet has a 7'- 0" high door which leaves an opening of just 12-inches above the water heater shelf. Removal of a 20.5" diameter water heater through this opening will be difficult. In addition, the specified water heater is 54.875" tall which means that the top of the water heater will be approximately at the same level as the bottom of the roof deck, leaving no room for piping or the batt insulation (if the water heater manages to miss the wide flanges supporting the roof). Coordinate the installation of the water heater with the architect to allow for maintenance access. [Initial comment: Clarify how the specified water heater will be able to be maintained or replaced in the mop closet. Reference: Sections 501.4 and 502.5, IPC 2012.] |
